Not miliput, but basically papier-mâché with toilet paper. I use TP because it shrinks nicely when drying and you can move it around to make very nice ripple effects. Even without adding sand you can make it look like natural earth.

I woke up this morning with an idea kicking around my head. I used three Ogres in my CB squad, one as a test model, so that left two more to do something with. I really liked Sam Lenz's piece from CB seen here:

So inspired by that I thought I should convert an Ogre into a pirate! Were my sculpting skills any good I would've made a bird for the shoulder, but that's not going to happen.

I also did a pile of cannon balls for the base, which will be a pirate ship deck, this time inspired by Sproket's Gutrot base.

Here is the start of the Imperial Fists marine

I feel like the armor came out too gold-like rather than yellow. What do you guys think?

I also put some base colors on the Nurgly guy, I'll show updates when I get a little more done.

And finally, I sculpted a Jolly Roger on the pirate Ogre's gut plate:

I think your yellow looks more like NMM gold, but that just my opinion, but it looks good for NMM gold too

Figone has some bird sculpts I think that might fit that scale for the ogre. The skull and Xbones are a nice touch.

I like it. Their command squads and heroes were more of a golden color pre-heresy so just go with it!

Thanks, Zab, I just tried lightening it to make it look more yellow, but I think only succeeded in making it look more golden haha.

holy f'in crap! Looks at how clear that resin. Spill the beans sir! Technique and material...

I use EasyCast resin. No special work involved, just pour, wait, peel the old clam pack walls and the resin is clear and ready to go. I've tested plain resin a few times and it always worked perfectly. The only time there was a hiccup was on the Teutonic Grand Master, I added a drop of acrylic ink to make a dirty looking water and it came out way too dark and there was a million bubbles. But other than that the resin was good to go, no sanding needed.

So many projects, and everything looks great! You do very good basework, I'm pretty sure your amazing bases did more than a little to help you make the cut at CB.

Nice Flu, I think your Yellow/gold looks great. I think and maybe I a wrong that in the shading for the yellow your color had a bit to much red in it to make it a yellow.

Thanks guys. Ter, I didn't use any red but it does appear to be there. Maybe it's the lighting? In any case I'll do one more round of lightening to see if it fixes stuff, if not oh well, that's the color it will be.

So you used clamshell packs instead of just tape to block in the resin and it came out smooth? Looks great by the way.

Indeed it was clampacks. I did a test last night with a single drop of food coloring in the resin to see how that would work. So far it looks pretty damn good. I'll pop it out and take a pic at the 24 hour mark.

24 hours later here it is. Turned out pretty good, but I think a full drop of food coloring is still a bit too much. Next time I'll use a smaller amount.

Thats brilliant mate. Have you tried a small drop of ink or even paint? I have heard inks work very well with a drop.

I had real trouble with acrilic paint and resin it sunk to the bottom even if I mixed the crap out of it. I tried pigments which worked quite well. Same goes less than what you think works better for colour. Great work!
