OHH congratulations Fluister!!!
PS: Completely agreed with Krule on the photo issue... I've just seen your winning entry on the dark age section (web) and almost did not recognise it LOL. ^^'

Thank you everyone! This gave me a great jolt and got me more excited for the hobby. Talking with a bunch of painters there I learned a lot and know what I need to do better for next year. And I promise I'll get better at photography!

While at Adepticon I picked up a bunch of new paints, including Scale 75's NMM gold/bronze set. So I went back to work on the Slaanesh lord and tried to improve the armor:

Also wanted to show something else I've been working on, this is the Queen of Death from Figone that I got from the Figopedia Indigogo campaign. It's been slightly modified:

Congratulations, Derek, it was great to see your work getting awarded in the Dark Age comp this year. Awesome piece, and one of several you brought to the competition!

Thank you ST, you should come next year, I'd love to see your stuff in person.

I started work on the Slaanesh lord's banner. It's very rough right now, just trying to get the base down. I'm going for a Japanese style Oni mask:

Also if you haven't voted for the Templar bust yet, could you please do so? I've already been hit with a bunch of 1's and could use some help.

Like the start of the banner! Why do ppl vote 1's? Jealousy?

Now if you'll excuse me i have to get back to voting... 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111

C'mon, Zab, you're smarter than that. You know you gotta vote 2's so when all the 1's get deleted at the end of the day, the 2's stay and keeps the score nice and low.

Oh you're sneaky! That explains my damn scores lately... All that carpel tunnel for nothing :rotfl:

Nice start on the banner. Yeah, now that you mention it I can see the oni mask inspiration. I was just googling a few examples. I wonder what if you had those spiked teeth on the top curve outward. Seems like a lot of oni masks have those tusk like teeth. Of course you might not want to go that far with the oni style, so you could prefer to keep it as is. Cool piece. I look forward to seeing more

Oh yeah, it's going to have those tusks, I just wanted to change the shape of the mouth a little before adding them. I gotta say, this is a very difficult banner to do freehand on because of all the folds. It's hard to keep track of every directional change of a straight line!

Cool idea for the banner. Obnoxious folds aside, you should have fun going wild there! There's also a strong classical element in the sculpture, so maybe you can reference that in your freehand design, as well.

That's a good idea about Crystal Brush next year. In retrospect, it would have been fairly convenient for me to go this year had I only planned ahead a bit. Doh! One of these days/years.

You could always go to MFCA next month, BAM will be there. It's in your home state, the exact opposite side, but still...

Thanks, Mally, definitely gave me a nice confidence boost.

I'm still working on the banner, no new pictures yet. But I did want to show off my new display shelves in my hobby room. One shelf is very full and the other is empty (cropped out) taunting me to paint more.
