Lovely night tonight plenty of painting done on my next in the squad space marine. Also been recycling some old minis and pimping the base theyre on so I've got something to enter for the duel category at GD as I haven't got time to paint something from scratch.

Also bow your heads for a fellow painter in pain 10 ball with the in laws on holiday in Skegness and no painting ..............ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ......fecking definition of Schadenfreude Lol!!;)

You cruel git......nowt worse than getting lumbered with your Out-Laws and in Skegness of all places!

OK back to the painting SpaM's looking OK.
But for the other one, and its only on here that one man can say this to another, Varnish Your Wood! (*)
Nothing say unfinished to me than wood left raw and unsealed and you want to get this noticed for the other reason in Golden Deamon.

As a duel it's not 100% interaction, But it's giving you the..."you know what's gonna happen next" scenario, so that works for me.

One thing and this is just my personal dislike is the stringy glue/cobweb business. Just doesn't work for me.
I always see that and think that the spider who "passed" it is gonna be making a Shire horse look small.
Unless you're lucky like me and have a wife with pure white hair to use as cobwebs most stringing of glue is gonna look out of scale.

(* Bluetac to mask off the painting and to hold a rolled up sheet of A4 paper in place, a tin of Spray 'Ard Coat or Army Painter Gloss Varnish, then Robert and Frances are your family members.)

Cheers Will praise indeed from mr deathwatch squad;) Any way as 10 ball is back now from the lower circle of hell .....er what?.....not hell? .....worse?......oh yes Skegness then I have had to do some painting to entertain myself rather than take the mick out if him.

So here's a couple of pics showing an update on the squad member.

Will do soon but been casting bases from plaster of Paris and free handing a standard for the squad. Any advice on the standard would be gladly received. Still a lot o do on it!

Hmmm. I want to say "needs red", but there is a distinct lack of red on the marines so it might only serve to draw attention away rather than help accent the minis. Beautiful freehand though.

Maybe some very dark reds like an underlit stormy sky as a back drop, good idea Zab.

here you go Lee a quick pic of the squad so far the base is nearly done for the third member and I have started the fourth so should be done in a couple of weeks and then a couple more weeks on the base and general tidy up etc.

Bit more work done on the banner got to crisp it up somehow. Seems all I do is freehand now, I look at it and think yeah that's ok and then I see stuff like that new mini forged by chaos and go wow! How on earth do they do that banner! Any way my effort is here.

hey Andy, you think all you do is freehand? know the feeling there!
you know, even if i dont know if its intended or not, i really like the... ehum, bird symbol. it looks rough but for me it still works! :good:
The iron cross, which i know is a pain to get exactly correct - the two lowest tips has to be shorten just a little. if not the image fool me.

squad looks really good so far, hope for the best! :)

Will touch up the bottom section of the cross Skelletets. Done a bit more and stuck it on to make it easier to hold (not get my big thumb prints all over it). Skelletets ,or others, how do you get a nice crisp finish on the painting I'm using thinned paints and flow aid and a small brush any other tips other than practice practice practice? Here's a pic.

That's a very sexy looking banner... it looks like a Monet in a really good way. just as I have always loved pixel art because it gives you the art without any of the faff. The banner isn't as crisp as one of Razzas but it still has real feel and beauty.

Your black is really good too... likey.

Will you have all these at Euro?
