Been working on him ye gods hes huge and intricate easily half again as big as the ogre chap on a par with the elephant god. Got the contrast done on the metals lots and lots of glazing needed though!! Anyway here it is so far in its very unfinished state. The swords aren't even started yet!

Liking the skin colours and I bet its going to have knockout NMM all over. The thing that's bothering me is there's no focal point to the mini. :struggle:

Whoa! That looks awesome! I am really liking how dark it is. Are you going for a black chrome sort of look? Works great with that purple.

That's what was killing me. being unfamiliar with the model i am having a hard time making out what it is other than arms and a tail. The general shape is very chaotic. I'm sure it will become more apparent as your painting proceeds though :)

Yep there is a head see the black unpainted bit underneath the crescent shaped spiky bit on the top that is a skull bone with recessed eyes in it not painted it yet. I know what you mean about chaotic but hopefully all will become clear when I do that bit.

NMMAndy, did you do some sort of pre-shading on the swords? I know you said they haven't been started yet, but it lookalike maybe you blocked out some shades of gray. If so, what is your strategy here? Do you tackle steel similar to how you do gold? In particular,do you put a mid gray down everywhere, then a dark wash over everything, then a mid gray everywhere but the shadows?

Im not having any troubles with my steel, but your answer to this will help me out quite a bit on my golds (which I do completely different from my steel).

that extra little coiour blue is really making the rest look even better. Just that small break up of the amour makes both skin and amour pop more. Excellent work.
