Another surprise from GW

No, but a 75% drop in profits and a 15% drop in turnover IN ONE YEAR (on top of a slump the previous financial year...) is hardly good news.

It would suggest that constant price hikes have turned people off and they are not buying as much stuff. How do the bigwigs deal with it? Crank up prices.

Clever:idea:

It also shows that their empire of shops is hurting them in a big stylee.

most brick and mortar based retail companies are struggling in england.

they simply are unwilling to adjust to the current climate of internet sales.

goverment taxing and greedy electrical/gas suppliers aren\'t helping either.

I just read the GW basic report. 45% tax rate!! That is crazy! they did say it will be coming down. Looks like the fastest way they could start making more money is by relocating to another country.

It\'s not the manufacturing costs that are hurting them so much as their massive chain of shops.

Think of all those employees, all the rent, electricity, transport and distribution costs. There has to come a point where the value of their retail business is outweighed by the cost of it. GW basically use their shops as a glorified form of advertising. I reckon there are more cost effective methods these days.

Relocation sounds like a good idea. I quit buying from European manufacturers because of the (sometimes) ridiculous tax and shipping rates.
