My partner has bi polar too, I dont know the struggle with it personally but I see how she can be sometimes and know it must be really difficult to live with, I myself have post traumatic stress from a series of unfortunate events over the span of 10 years, I find painting helps alot and gives me something creative to focus my mind and energy on

Glad your with us, your wip is full of a wonderful variety of things and your always on hand to give everyone pointers along the way :)

@Sicks - *blush* Thank you for those really kind words. I'm glad that painting has been a good place to find some peace for you as well. And I'm sure you'll all be stuck with me for a while longer. :)

I'm sorry to hear of your struggles, and glad to hear you've found some coping mechanisms. I empathise and sympathise.

You can count on us to be here cheering on your painting and sculpting, and cheering anyway if you don't fancy it for a bit.

(I'll leave the Pom Pom waving to you, though.) :)

I will be honest, and this is what i love most about this site and all of you, ::DANGER! Mushy moment incoming, all manly men and grizzly girls avert their eyes at this time:: I have never come across such kindness in all my life on the thing we call the internets. There is so much love, acceptance, help, and support that truely makes this corner of ours a magical place.

2nd this, I've seen it in a few threads here and there over the past few months, what a lovely bunch of people around here, a quick group hug then off to more manly things like drink beer and talk about sports, so how about that game with the teams and the ball.. That was some game huh

@bgcdazzler - Thank you my friend. I'll keep the pom-poms primed and ready for action. :)

@Digga - If you'd asked me before I got involved in the forums whether I thought it would be possible to make friends online I would've been very sceptical. But here you lot are...

@Sicks - Yes that manly activity with the bat and the catching things. :p

it hadn't been for a promise to paint a piece for some one else (*)
I wouldn't be here.

i joined this forum at the height of my depression and my life has been saved on more than one occasion thanks to you dragonsreach. this hobby and the people it attracts have a remarkable healing power.

thank you for sharing that arch, it was really touching. this site attracts all kinds of oddballs (myself included), but you'll never find a kinder, more supportive place on the internet!

those kits look fantastic. i can't wait to see what you do with them!

@meaty_nosebleeds - I don't know what made me share randomly in the middle of everything. But people's response has been truly touching. Maybe it was something that needed to be said to give people a chance to share their own troubles.

Drop me a line if you ever need to.

And now for something completely different...

Unfortunately for KruleBear this isn't going to be a cute post, but the kitten should keep you guys going for a little while.... :D

I mentioned a while ago that I'm in a play. We're doing the stage version of Terry Pratchett’s Maskerade. One of the characters is the Opera House's rat catcher, Mr Pounder. As a costume idea the director wanted to create a hat with rat skulls hanging from the brim. The problem is finding skulls. So I was playing around and made some. Here they are without paint:

They're made from Super Sculpey Medium Blend which I specifically left in the oven for a bit longer to turn brown. That way I can use the brown as dirt caught in the crevices etc. I've made five in total and they still need to be painted. They don't show all of the anatomical details because they're only going to be seen from a distance by the audience. But I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out.

I'll post some more pics when I've painted them up.

That's really cool, and they look great! As you said, the audience won't get a close look at them, so I'd imagine you could basically spraypaint them white/khaki then darken the eye sockets & elsewhere. Every good painter knows you've gotta push that contrast on theatrical mouse-skull props!

@SaintToad - lol! :D Glad you like them. I'm doing a very rough paintjob on them with the brush. Pretty happy with the results so far. Watch this space....
