(ok, truthfully, we were running through the woods and the guy in front of me slipped on a branch and fell backwards. I could see the tip of the sword rotate directly at my face before it hit me right between the eyes. Lucky as hell... an inch to either side would have cost me an eye)

Anot her thing I should Def push you to try is what maenas suggested when anyone does tattoo work for freehand designs and this tip is strictly for just that tattoo freehand. When you apply the first base color you should add in the base color to have it seem it's under the skin and not drawn or painted on.or in your case you can apply the color you've done to the design and then wash or glaze on (the last fish highlight color you used) @ remeber when we glaze on we "paint" on that extremely diluted application of color we don't liberally "wash " it on ,cause it's not a wash it's a glaze.

@BAM - I did actually include the skin colour in the tattoo mix for the freehand. I definitely need to practice glazing more - I battle to get the right consistency. Often it's too thin so the pigment seems to settle out. I need to experiment.
@Teronus - Thanks for the tip. I am getting better at controlling how much I load into the brush, but I forget every now and again.

Needlessly stressing
One thing that I've noticed is that as I've gotten a *bit* better at painting my output has slowed right down. I used to be able to finish a mini in 3-4 painting sessions in the evenings. Not so much anymore. Its largely because I'm taking more care while painting and because in trying new things which is also slower. I just hope that my speed will pick up again with experience. Taking a couple of weeks on a figure is not ideal.
I realised last night that I've been putting off getting into doing Bigun's skin because skin still intimidates me. This was part of the reason I bought this figure - to push myself and force myself to practice. So I'm going to get over myself this afternoon and get some decent painting done.

YYeah you got it my freiend..forgive all of us when we give advice I just want to let you know me and everybody else included when we give advice it's not because we're actually saying something is missing but just giving advice as thorough as we can to all and in addition how we know it to outselves..so keep doing what your doing and it will always pan out...the rule of thumb about the forums is take what you think will work and scrap all else.your doing great.shel.no lie true story.
