Yep, what a fitting tribute. Didn\'t know we did tickertape in this country.

Apparently over 100 000 people in Trafalgar Square.
Awesome!

When they sang \'Jerusalem\' it even sent a tingle down my dour Yorkshire spine.

It is a big deal when you win it once every quarter of a century. :D

Seriously though, we are about to embark on a bloodletting all to familiar to Atherton and Company.

What a series:D

That\'s the best i\'ve ever seen. The way the games were played with such high run rates and wickets falling all through the day was fantastic. The sportsmanship shown between the teams made me proud and showed up the footballers.

Warne is a legend indeed, 40 wickets at an average of 19.9 is incredible especially on the losing team.

Great picture of Flintoff with the replica trophy in the changing rooms smoking a Cigar, great player.

Just a shame that it will now be gone from channel 4 and on Sky who\'s cricket coverage is terrible. I thought C4 have done really well with it over the past 7 years getting good viewing figures and helping to make it popular. Bloody ECB are all tits for the Sky deal:flame:

We had to let you Poms win. I mean if we didnt you probably wouldnt want to play anymore. Now that we are the losers do we get to take the cup home with us.:D

The only ashes they\'ll be bringing back are those of the burned contracts of some of your \'old men\'!

As for the ECB flogging the TV rights, it\'s absolutely moronic and I bet they are regretting it right about now.

This series has generated a MASSIVE interest in cricket and people are not going to be able to follow that up - my GF is a good example. She got right into it and loved every minute once she understood what was going on.

I think a lot of people have discovered how gripping test cricket really is and how much deeper a game it is than football.

Cricket will return to terrestrial TV I reckon. Sadly that will be in around 2010...

but you\'ve got to try.........

same thing happened in Aus, and the government intervened...........

Irish football went onto satelite and the public protested and it was changed......

anything is possible!!

isn\'t it?

The one saving grace with sky - just one - is that you sometimes have to go to the pub to watch something worthwhile. Can\'t fault the pub as a venue.

Over this side of the bridge, we\'ve got loads of rugby coverage at the moment, something like 3-4 matches a week. I\'m loving it, seeing the domestic teams playing against Irish and Scottish teams. Then we\'ve got the cup games against the English, as well as the best part of the club/regional year, the European Cup. I\'m in my oils, but if Sky came and took my stuff away, I\'d bomb their head offices and stick Murdock* on a rocket and blast him to the moon. Bastard.

Edit - * I know, it\'s Murdoch. A simple mistake.

Well, before you blast him to the moon, be sure to check the contents of the back of his trousers. I\'m pretty certain that you\'ll find Mr. Blair down there. Surgery may be required to remove his nose that is firmly wedged... Failure to do so, will undoubtably lead to anarchy.... anarchy I tell thee!

Nah, he\'ll be a tight-fisted tosspot. The sort of wanker who walks into a top restaurant, has a slap-up seven course meal with vintage wine, then buggers off without paying!

Looks like an Australian is going to screw you guys in the end after all...

Seriously though I know how you guys feel - Murdoch almost destroyed rugby league in this country - the code is only just recovering after around 10 years.

We\'re used to it. Sky has snaffled most of the top sports in the UK. Rugby League, football, cricket...

We\'re left with all the stuff they don\'t want. Like snooker. And athletics. Which are fine, but hardly the most enthralling TV spectacle.:(

Even if you subscribe to Sky Sports (what is that now... £40.00 per month?)... they\'ll probably charge extra for watching the premium stuff like the Ashes by ppv.... horrible gits they are!
