Yeah, Silverwulfe, this hobby can really suck you in. As far as 'groups on the internet' go, the modeling community tends to be pretty welcoming, supportive, and helpful.
Thanks, Teronus and Demi. I continued to do some minor tweaks to the skin, but nothing major. Some of the photos turned out a bit more dull/yellow than others. So that could be the difference you're seeing. Either way I think the blue in the tattoos is a nice contrast to the red-brown-orange tones for the rest of the figure.
In other news, I think Lord Fancy Pants... I mean the Officer of the Guide is finished. I painted the rest of the black sections and took care of the gold details on the hat. I also added those fiddly spurs to the back of his boots. Not much of a connection point, so I put them on last to avoid knocking them off and losing one forever. After all that I applied some pigments for a light dusting. Just a bit on his shoes, knees, and a touch here and there. He's an officer so I figure he'd be pretty clean. Unless I see (or you all notice) something amiss I think this guy is all wrapped up. I'm thinking he will be one of my Crystal Brush entries. He'd fit into the large scale category and also be eligible for the Pegaso special award (they're a sponsor so there's a decent chance they will do one). I've got a couple other 75mm scale figures on their way to me, so there are other options. One is another Pegaso Napoleonic that I won in a contest I didn't even know I'd entered. A friend told me about imodeler.com, it's mostly vehicles but I thought why not post some of my figures anyway. Turns out they vote on a monthly best in show and my guys won. It comes with a kit for the prize and, while I was expecting a tank or plane based on the sites focus, they were really nice and sent me a figure instead.
And I'm adding a few close up shots so you can get a better look at the details. The pictures above are decent sized, but the figure is 75mm so there's a lot there
