Not again...

I hear they canceled schools already and such... and that track i don\'t think will happen, it doesn\'t take into account the gulf stream, so i think it will take a more lazy curve up the eastern coast of florida... but thats just my thought.

Changed again.

Funny thing was with Charlie, it was \"this is going to hit Tampa Bay at 8:20\" and it didn\'t.

Now it is like \"Francine will hit somewhere between Key West and Richmond VA, sometime this weekend.\" Talk about covering your bases.

Supposed to be coming back over Orlando again . I think this is a conspiracy between the plywood companies and Home Depot.

Thanks for the invite Airhead...

it\'s ok Grub, I was headed up your way this long weekend, but not now. If you decide to make the dive, give a shout (email) and spend a little time in Orlando.

I think I\'m going to stay in Atlanta this weekend and come down later. Were you headed to Atlanta? I know that you live in Orlando, I\'ve got a bit of family there. Hope you guys are OK and just get a little wet..

And the weathermen are covering something, but it\'s not their bases...lol
Cheers,
Scott

AAAAAAHHHH

Wow that thing is scary. Up here in Atlanta/Athens we won\'t get the wind, but it always seems that once these storms are done with Florida they drop half the Atlantic ocean on us. It\'s these stupid foothills.

I was on Sanibel Island a week before it was obliterated 3 weeks ago by Charley. Non residents still aren\'t allowed back.

To Finn:
I know the clouds look similar over Florida and England, but something tells me the storm over England does not boast winds of 145 miles per hour, which is something like 230 km per hour (I think).

And the folks live in Florida because the climate is warm. Brick houses aren\'t really condusive to Florida. It keeps the wind out, it keeps the heat in.

The idea that most folks in Florida live in trailers is incorrect. Florida houses are usually one story, and once a hurricane is finished with it any normal, middle class neighborhood looks like it used to be a trailer park.

To Airhead:
Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but Florida has more tornados per year than anywhere else on the planet.

Hey, that invite stands for any CMON\'er that is in Central FL. Especially if you are from out of town and spending money at Disney ;)

Yea, I know that there are more tornadoes here, but they are babies compaired to what I grew up with. Most of the ones here are little F1 or less plus a lot of waterspouts. I remember tornadoes a mile wide that just scoured the earth. I have seen the wierd stuff you see in the documentaries: straw into telephone poles, cows with no hair from the sand and wind, a mile of barbed wire fence wrapped around a single tree, 50\' gap in the asphalt from where the tornado sucked it up, etc. That is just the cool neat stuff, not the ugly stuff that one leaves behind.

Rather be here. I know that hurricanes spin off tornadoes too, but generally they are small as well.

There is nothing as frightening, exhilarating, incredible, or awe inspiring as mother nature at her finest (or worst)....

Most men have no control over.

I met a guy in college who said he could control the weather. I just nodded, trying not to trigger a psychotic episode. My roommate did not share my caution and quickly said, \"could you show me something? Summon a storm. Or how about a tornado.\" The guy replied by saying, \"It\'s much harder than you think. I have to meditate for hours.\" So my friend said, \"How about some fog?\"

He also said that he was a ninja, that he could jump from a three story building and hit the ground running, and that he was a Highlander. Yes, an immortal to boot. It scares me to think of the kind of people I used to let in my home when I was in college.

A little bit off topic. I was reminded of this thread because of the news broadcast. That also made me think of something else. Every country has it\'s priorities and I can imagine that the importance given to a story is different from here. What we have here would be: the hostage drama in Beslan, the French journalists kidnapped in Iraq, the hurricane in the US and then misc. news.
How is this where you all are?

They have changed the track twice this morning already. One said between Orlando (me) and Tampa (IPM, Tab, etc).

The other track said right through Orlando. (yuck).

Right now, it is setting on the gulf stream, picking up strength. Maybe it will move off northeast?

The manager of the local mini shop has a 70 or 80 years old aunt somewhere in Florida who was evacuated by the police  yesterday or this morning, \"à la force des baillonnettes\"!:wow:.
