Wow, good progress on both projects. I love how the cape on the elf turned out, the texture is a nice addition. Nice job on the hand holding the staff. hands are definitely tough, but you've nailed this one. I agree with BAM, I think you have a talent for sculpting, all you need is more practice!

Dam man I have to say this elf is your best yet. You have definitely leveled up really fast. The details your putting in are top quality.

Thanks khavor (and welcome to my WIP): it's a massive boost from an artist of your calibre to hear that I'm on the right lines.

You too digga.

You definately have cloth and accessories down pat. Your organic shapes are improving drastically.

Btw...love the staff.

w00t! A hand that looks like a hand! I am impressed my friend - quite genuinely. The staff looks great as well - good call on the wood I think.

Thanks all - next is the trickier bit: the sword. I've made one here but now have to figure out how to get it on the elf - I may have to rig up some sort of clamp or stand to hold it in place while it bakes. Didn't really think it through...

I'm sure you'll be fine!

As for a stand: cunningly constructed foil towers work well and apparently polyester batting/fibre-fill (used in quilting) does as well. If you don't want the foil to make a shiny spot on your sculpt them you can lay a piece of blank paper or card between the sculpt and the foil. I have tried this - no fire hazard at all at the temps we bake at.

It's Gandalf's staffff!!! ^^ I think it's great, maybe a little thin but it's great. Hand look really good from here, I see thumb maybe a bit long or big maybe but I am not 100% sure since it looks pretty good from the vies you have provided us.

Nonsense - you have a steady hand and an artist's eye. I'm sure you could make some cracking sculpts.

Right, got to get the lady and her pet off my desk tonight for Flesh Faire... Then figure out what's next!

Hehe that looks like something I would make. Since I'm conning myself into believing I can sculpt I'd say you can too!

Thanks Tero. :)

Right, I've put up my entry for the flesh faire - needless to say that time wasn't my friend with this one, I would have loved another week to really polish up the details. Plus the base is as quick and dirty as they come. But at least it's ticked off.

And while I had the camera out I took some of the elf:

Well done! I know the Flesh Faire duo aren't quite where you'd have liked them, but they make a great pair and I'm sure it was a fun exercise in painting skin. I just love that goblin orcy pet - he is so full of character.

Your elf is really coming along well also. The detail and texture you've achieved is amazing.
