Thanks all, I've done some steampunkish goggles now. Also done the arms and hands, finished the other boot, added a shoulder patch and had a go at a gun. Be gentle, I've never made a gun or any mechanical bits before!

Ooh shiny! Very nice goggles and mechanical bits (the technical term for them as you well know). :good:

This may be a problem of angle or perspective, but it doesn't look as though her two forearms are the same length. Her right one is shorter.

Nope, it's definitely longer. :doh!: It's because I went all fancy-schmancy and added a bracelet.

I need to adjust the angle of her hand anyway, so I'm going to cut it off and reposition tonight. Then I just need to figure out how to make her stand up on her own in a stable way... might need to drill a hole in her leg. Ulp!

This is phenomenal.....everything is so well prportioned and the attention to detail is very deliberate...job well well done..watch in another 2 years ,you'll be just like my boy Stavros soul it's ,who started sculpting not to long ago and within 2 years he was winning best new artists and other types of awards for his wonderful contributions to the world of miniature painting/sculpting .

Fantastical job on this sculpt bud. I mean dam you just captured the steam punk spirit with this one so well.

I hope you know that I really think she is awesome. I just point things out because I want to help.

Fimo drills quite easily, so a pin through the base into her flat foot (i.e. the one she's got her weight balanced on) should solve that problem.

I need help! In so many ways. But in terms of sculpting, yes - Your comments and critical eye is really useful. Same with WGS and Digga and everyone else - I can see that you are all pointing stuff out with 'fresh eyes' and each suggestion pushes me to reconsider, redo, go further, and ultimately make it far better than I thought it would end up. It's hugely, hugely valuable, so keep it coming!

Oh, and BaM, thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure I'll ever scale those heights, but I appreciate your vote of confidence in me.

The funny thing is my buddy in Greece Stavros was ready to quit cause he didn't think he was ever going to be that good as well. So be positive def keep doing it as its really well done and can only get better. ;) btw are you coming back to more painting lol

You clearly have a talent for sculpting so keep at it, each mini is a learning experience, and hopefully you can improve with each one

maybe consider taking a sculpting class for minis if you have the time/money I know kev white from hasslefree does them every now and then in this country but there must be other people who do too

@BAM: I'm definitely coming back to painting - this little(ish) lady is for the flesh faire that kicks off on Monday, so I'll be painting her straight away. I'm painting the last bits of Sprogrot and finishing up Maulgy as well as a few other 'secret' projects in the background, so don't worry - my brush-wielding days are only just beginning!

@Sicks, a course might be a good idea, I'll keep an eye out.

Speaking of painting...

Sprogrot is now done. I've been playing with a new camera, so the pics are a bit better than usual (still nowhere near perfect, though...)

So there he is! My first proper sculpt, painted by me. Phew.

Wow. This is going to be kind of the benchmark for my Sprogrot. I like your version very much. Only thing that I would for sure do different is his helmet-thingie. It looks quite dull, even if it is very rusty some more metallic shine would be nice, I think. Especially as the medusa on his shoulderpad looks pretty shiny.

I "sculpted" a new neck-guard on my sprogrot and filled the larger bubbles. Well, kind of. It is a miracle to me, how people are able to tell the stuff where to go and where to stay... I think it turned out quite ok. We will see when the paint comes.

Your sculpting skills are advancing at a rapid pace. The girl is looking fantastik and Sprogrot's paint job is on point.

When you hear me say one of the many MANY phrases I've coined like for eg-" LEVEL UP-find the nearest save point and save game"- when you hear (read) this that meand a significant increase in ones skill set, so this is a huge increment for your standards , you've set your own bar and then reset it instantly !!! Great job.

Have to agree with everyone, sprogrot looks amazing, both eyes are really well done, so is the skin, you've made it difficult for the few of us that have a copy match the skill :p
