Two thumbs way, way up there for Sprogrot. :victory:

I've been working almost constantly a couple of hours a night on my sculpts and my bust is only just now starting to look like something recognisable. I have no idea how you manage to sculpt so fast with such skill. But ve haff vays und means of making you talk....

Thanks everyone- you're all very kind.

@Schwarz: yes, I probably could have shined up the helmet more. Looking forward to seeing your version!

@Krule: thanks. The lady should be finished ready for paint today...

@BaM: thanks dude, I'm honoured. Still aiming for the high score!

@tero: thanks, yes I'm quite pleased with the eye now.

@Sicks: I am in no doubt you can do a better paint job, my friend.

@Digga: thanks! I don't know what bangarang or PnP mean, but hopefully they are good...

@Arch: cheers Shel. My secret... Well, I guess there is no secret. I just fiddle about with it until I'm happy. I don't spend a lot of time looking at what I'm sculpting, I just push the stuff around - I'm not precious about it, it can always be squished up and remade after all. Oh, and some good music or a film on helps too. I spent a happy couple of hours almost finishing a model last night while watching Matt Damon goof around in The Martian.

PnP is putty and paint. You have to get invited to it because its a prestige place to show your work and get voted on. As for Bangarang. That comes from the movie Hook with Robin Williams and I have used that word since I was a kid watching the movie to basically show my highest form of praise for something.

Thanks Ten. Sicks: I have faith. :)

Right, more playing around with the camera, so I thought it worth sticking up some pics of Khorgorath again:

Maulgy and Pig

And I have now done the last little touches on King Maulg. Done! I'll also post him in the paintalong (if I can find the thread...)

You have been having fun with the new camera. :) I approve! So, when are some of these pics going up in your gallery? Or are you more about the WIP? Which is also cool.

You will have to give me an SBS of your camera process, something about it just makes me drool over those photos...( I mean the art work you did is amazing) but you actually put Age of Sigmar in there and I didn't even care lol

Thanks all! I'm glad you like them: I find it so hard to judge my own stuff - I guess I'm too close to it.

Thanks Zab, Tero. Yep, this was a base and a half. Totally glad it's over with. There were heaps more things I could've/should've done to it, but I'll save all the aborted ideas for another thing I think.

@Arch: um, call me a silly newbie if you like, but I don't actually know how to put anything into the gallery... It would be interesting to see how they do I guess. But yes, I'm more about the WIP and everyone's super useful comments.

@Digga: I'm really still trying to figure out the camera. I got an old Canon EOS 350 off eBay (whose software doesn't actually work on my MacBook, it's so old), and I'm still playing. The fully manual mode doesn't work on it - you can't seem to change the shutter speed - so I'm using a setting where you can but the aperture is automatic.

For the dark backgrounds: I bought the missus a handbag for xmas that came in a big black net-a-porter box - the models are stood on the lid and the main box is the backdrop, so it's very useful! I bought another lamp for £4 and that's it - so two halogen lamps, a black box and an old camera. I set the lighting and then take pics from different shutter speeds until it looks about right, and that's it so far.

And thanks Dr Bob (and welcome, if you're a new visitor to my WIP) - surely if it was a Frazetta there would be at least two adoring naked slave girls on a chain, or something? ;)

WOOOO! So much going on since I left my last comment on Friday!!

You got some nice pictures there and I see you finally finished off some projects altogether! Congratulations!! Nice art also on the pics ;)

I would like to point out a couple of things to see if they help you out a bit more:
On the green girl
I agree with the lenght of the arms on being a bit strange, whether a bit long or short I cannot tell, maybe it's only parts of the arm which do not fit (shoulder-elbow or elbow-wrist)
Hands are a whole lot better than on "Pig". Raised hand looks better than the one holding the gun, which is a little too big... I am sure this is due to sculpting the gun and then adding the hand on top of it. scturcture of the hands looks ok, is fingers what I am talking about. Anyway it is impressive how you level up your skills!!

On the pictures
They are a little bit tinted warm maybe because of the halogen or the settings on your camera or whatever... try to balance your whites on the camera. (you can go to those menus and see if auto white colour balance works, or go and try those different settings it may have (bulb light/fluorescent lighting/interior light/cloudy day/direct sunlight/etc....)

That's exactly the same camera I have... Although I bought mine new. Every time I've saved up to upgrade the body I've bought a new lense instead. :-/
Manual mode would obviously be the best but failing that I'd suggest aperture priority over shutter. Then you can play with the depth of field directly. Of course you need to keep the shutter fast enough to avoid shakes as well, the rough rule of thumb for non stabilised lenses is 1/focal length, but that'll vary depending on how steady you are.
(sorry if I'm singing songs you already know, I just get excited about the technical side of photography) :p

Any help much appreciated! I'm involved in a lot of photo shoots for work but usually have a photographer there to press all the buttons for me.

And yes, I have seriously considered taking a crate of models to a shoot and asking them to do the photos for me... :)

Always happy to take bonus points. :)

having said that, I think I spent them all wrestling this bloody woman into submission. Long story short; don't ever, ever bake Fimo in too hot an oven. I put her in straight after dinner and she more or less exploded.

Lots of cursing and bandaging and more cursing later, and I think she's ready to paint. There are still a few cracks to greenstuff, but I'm fed up with her now and time is marching on - the flesh faire thingy started today.

So so here she is in all her wounded glory, primed for paint: steampunk bounty hunter lady. I need to get better at naming these things.
