Error 404, oh boy, this is my lucky day he is not here to deny my resignation anymore. HORRAY!....if that doesnt work I will confess to being the witch who conjured you up to throw them off my scent. Therefore the mob will come to me and take me out, allowing you to continue sculpting such amazing works of art and me...well I get to resign either way :p

Bzzt: I'm back!

And I just want to say for the record I have no affiliation by that humanoid that goes by the name of Digganob.

Should you interact with him in person, stick some Fimo in his hands. :)

@Maenas: Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Thanks, my friend. You're right: the book definitely needs a bit of work. I might make another little robot or two to stand with him, if my eyesight can take it. See if I can make my smallest possible robot diorama.

Glad you like the freehand too - still lots of neatening to do to it, but I'm happy that at least the rough bones of it are looking right...

@Arch: I would pay good cash money to see a pom-pom twirling, cartwheeling hamster. That there is the beginnings of a Youtube sensation.

And yes, I'm all for trying new stuff! It's fun, and occasionally works. I have more than my fair share of failures, don't worry - but honestly: who cares? I love my failures. Every single one is a lesson learned, whether it's a good lesson or a bad lesson. Without them I can't move forwards, so each one I embrace happily, and then move on.

Wiw, where to start? Freehand on the cape is great. The little robot guy is very cool and would love to see him with a Tero paint job. And I would buy a casting of that demon...very cool.

Thanks chaps.

Well, I noticed today that I have officially been doing this stuff for 6 whole months! 6 months ago I wandered into the Hobby shop in Lambeth and bought a box of ork lootas and burnas with the vague hope that I might be able to learn to paint 'em.

Well... I can't honestly say I've done that. :) but I've tried lots of other stuff and had a blast along the way. And thank you, all of you, for the giggles, support and inspiration along the way.

In in other news, I've pretty much finished the demon bust (any name suggestions?). Weirdly the bit that took the longest was the clothing: I wanted it to be smooth to counter the rough texture of the rest of him. You can also see I used a dirty brush to smooth it (oops).

And for a quick size comparison here he is next to Sprogrot. It's amazing the difference a few months of practice can make, isn't it?

all the best to everyone. Here's to the next 6 months! I'm going to go have a slice of cake.

Azmaul - Keeper of Pain

Happy 6 months! It's been great fun watching your progression and getting to know you. What does your good lady think of all of the strange beasties you create and paint? You've been a great addition to our little corner of the Internet. :D

Good name suggestions!

I've ordered some silicone mould maker, so should be able to cast him this week or next.

@DrBob: you're not allowed to quit either. :(

@Zab: your mind is in the gutter, young man. I approve.

@Digga: glad to see you're still around!

@Arch: my missus thinks I'm weird - but then she knew that already. If it calms my restless soul then she's all for it. Not sure she approved of my studies of some of the flesh faire entries, though...

@Maenas: thanks - that's the plan!

Now, back on to the elf!

A bit more done to the elf - more depth to the cape and the first rough blocking in on the chestplate. Sorry for the rubbish pic...

That cape is absolutely beautiful. I really can't believe the depth and realism you've got in that freehand work.
First pass on the chest plate is looking good too.

no update as such, but I took a picture in daylight which might show it up better. Still crappy phone pic, though:

No waaayy!! You are also trying NMM on this!! hahahaha
Congratulations on your stellar course ^^

Keep an eye on the doorbell I am sure some UK mates from you will come to you to proof you are not a robot xD xD xD

On the NMM aproach and taking into account my short experience and skills in that I would say that yours is missing deeper shadows and higher lights, specially deeper shadows and definitions were light and dark parts meet. But as it is still WIP you might be conscious of that already. Colours are quite right I think...

On freehand I cannot say anything but :desire::desire::desire:
