*taps mic* hello? One two, one two.

Yep, I'm here! Alive, if not well. Sorry for disappearing for a bit; life decided to throw some hand grenades in. To whit:

1. We got burgled whilst on holiday. Home laptop, work laptop, home iPad, work iPad, Xbox one, engagement ring, jewellery box of stuff. Plus they trashed the place, the little s**ts. They stole my 'war' demon too - and a plastic bottle filled with 1p and 2p coins. Weird.

2. Wife's uncle died (of old age... Not a bad way to go).

3. More than half of my countrymen decided they knew better than 'experts' and 'geography' and voted to leave Europe. Not much of an issue so far, apart from wiping £2 trillion from our economy, deposing four national political leaders (so far) and fuelling a 535% rise in race hate attacks. I now feel obliged to make speeches to any international gatherings (such as you lovely folk here) that make clear that I do not stand with this ragtag assortment of bigots and morons and am not only tolerant of the dazzling diversity of culture and life-lessons we can take from other humans elsewhere in the world, but positively welcome them. Unity always, never division.

4. My racist mother-in-law voted leave, incidentally, 'for you and your children'. I am sure they will thank her for setting astounding limitations on their future life as global citizens.

5. More personally, this has meant buyers have pulled out of buying our house. Yay.

6. Work has been busier than ever before (I'm a creative director in an industry affected by all this), so if I had a mojo to paint and model, I haven't had time. A shame, because if I've ever needed a dose of escapism, now's the time.

So in short, not much fun to be had. I picked up a wee bit of clay last night to ease myself back in, and if it turns into something I'll keep you all posted. In the meantime - thank you for the personal messages of support, and patiently awaiting my return. As some lunatic on here might say: 'you're all golden!'

Speak again soon.

Sorry to hear of your personal tragedies must have been tough to go through all those.
Agree on the european fiasco ( why I don't list myself as living in Britain) and it's a royal pain what it has done to so many industries.
Hope you have time and motivation to excite and thrill us soon

Im glad you're at least still with us mate, I think most of the Brits on here have felt the sting of the brexit vote (coincidentally my partners honestly-not-a-racist father and stepfather voted us out too, for the good of the country of course) I used to class myself as welsh before british but even thats been screwed up since Wales voted out too (despite the fact they benefit from billions in EU funding). Really sorry to hear about your other hardships too mate, hopefully it will turn around for you.

Sorry to hear all of that happenings. Wishing you the best, votings on my country have also been a little weird lately.
I really hope everything turns out better for you, and I also wish your insurance (if you have it) covers all those burgled things.
Better times to come for sure.

Being burgled must be a terrifying ordeal, and to top it off with the European fiasco....Like Bam, I am hoping things turn around and get better for you. If you need to rant and rave we are all here to listen.

Sorry to hear about your burglary dude, that sort of personal violation is hard to get over.

I also know know exactly what you mean about Brexit. Running a pub I get to interact with a very broad spectrum of people on a daily basis and obviously Brecit has been a pretty hot topic of late. I'm honestly completely astonished at the levels of racism and intolenence I've had to listen to over the last week. Not impressed at all

*hugs*

A couple of points:
1) I'm thrilled that you're still alive and in one piece! :victory:
2) Brexit has been astonishing to watch unfold from all the way over in Africa so I can only imagine the impact that you're feeling in the thick of things.

Take care D! And we'll see you when you get a chance to unleash that fearsome creativity of yours again. Just let us know that you're still alive every once in a while.

*more hugs*

Oh – there you all are! Hello everyone.

So, it's been – what? – 6 weeks or so since I popped by. I presume BaM has painted about a billion new models, as usual. Sorry I haven't been around much – been embroiled in house selling/buying, summer holidays, and a whole long list of other stuff too boring to go into. I've missed you guys! *sniff* Didja miss me? :)

I haven't done much painting or sculpting while I've been away, but in preparation for our house sale (going through in two weeks, fingers crossed), I got the ol' box of gubbins out and thought I would have a little play tonight. It's reminded me how much I enjoy a bit of fiddling with the clay.

So anyway, here's what I did:

1. Put some blobs onto a stick of foil. No idea what I'm doing at this stage, it's all just for fun.

2. Hmm, seems like it is going to be an angry fella. This is actually much smaller than the typical bust I've done before, so we'll see how it comes out...

3. Ah, bit better. I thought I would do an open mouth shouty thing, and so added more creases around the eyes too to add the anger.

4. Now some ears. Not sure if we'll see them at the end, but it's all for practice.

5. So here's the finished face:

6. At this point I stopped and baked, then did a bit of neck (you can't see 'em, but I did some little standout veins that I'm quite pleased with). Then I roughed a bit of body and hair, and a rough idea for a hood. At this point I think he's sort of an angry priest type, and I'm half-tempted to skip the hood and do a sort of bishop's hat instead, but suggestions welcome.

So far it's been about an hour or so of pleasant fiddling. Such fun! Why did I wait so long to have another go?

Anyway, I'll pop around and see how everyone's been getting on with paints and brushes. I can't wait to see what I've missed! See you all soon, folks.

Oh yes! Go the angry zelot route. I can practically feel the righteous spittle flying at me as he damns he to hell and whatnot. Also it would be pretty unique in terms of sculpts! Welcome back.

One of the great things about this hobby, and forum, you can wander off and sort out life and come back with cool bits and people happy to see you. Welcome back
