ok, before i move on (wiccanpony got a point, at some point we have to do it) here is something i just have to give this reply in regard to conspiracy theories - don´t worry it´s reasonable :
Imagine you are in charge of this operation and you get the news that OBL wa shot. His body needs to be buried and you have to do it according to Islamic customs as not to create outrage for obvious reason. You have two options.
Number 1: You bury him on land. This way no conspiracy nut can claim it never happened ,but you might also create a place were radicals can worship him as martyr, even use it for propaganda.
Number 2: bury him on sea. No site for fanatics to pilgrimage to, but every conspiracy site on the web will explode with theories.
it´s simply a cost-benefit analysis and i know which option i´d pick.
btw, i say this as someone who never served in the millitary, and i´m not so arrogant as to assume i know what the people involved were thinking. I´m just saying that to me it appears that they choose the lesser of two evil.
