7 layers each and 255 of them

good god, and I thought I had gem issues with eldar...:messed:

Lovely work on the dwarf, and indeed, all your stuff. Your NMM is aces - I have huge trouble with it. Your blending in general is really nice, in fact.

With regards to picture taking, my advice would be:

use 2 lamps - one at the front, and one angled round the side a wee bitsy.

OR

use one sun (positioned at the left or right side, slightly to the front) and one mirror round the opposite side of the mini to reflect the light back at it.

Print out a nice background. It could be the standard white/blue gradation, or any other variation of your choice.

Put this behind you mini, and put your mini on a plain black block of wood. (or if it has a plinth, use that)

put the camera on a tripod, or failing that, a pile of books.

Take some time the first time around to take a dozen or so shots at different settings, then sit and look at them with a critical eye, and decide what your best bet is.

If you do all of that, you should end up with nice pics. Photoshop or GIMP (a free photo editor) can be used later to tweak things, but really tweaking is all it should be.

Hope that helps :)

cheers for the tips mij, i do usually use 2-3 lamps tho, but they tend to reflect way to much, even though i use something like a photobox, perhaps the nmm gold is so good it automatically reflects^^ on a more serious note, the sun is great, but a rare produkt in december sweden:/. i´ll make sure to fetch a decent background and a tripod or something like it. think my parents have one they´re not using.

more gems would lead to me killing myself^^

tried some of the things, dont have a printer, so couldnt get a proper background, but the textile piece will have to suffice for a bit. also noticed some mould lines in the gold base of the throne. will have to change that, even though i like the look. my pics still look like i´m drunk tho:p

It's not really noticeable until you pointed it out. I'd almost suggest making it green light, or something that is more contrasting with the gold frame and white paper. Plus, I would also make the effect a LOT bigger, taking up a full rune's width/height in each direction, spilling onto the previous page as well. It'll draw focus to it more.

cluttered as hell indeed:p but i like that! funny tho that i want the rune to be so subtle, but i did make the rest of the pages darker, so that the rune really pops. i´d love to show you the thing sometime skelettet, i´d love some tips for the bigass base once i start it, i think it´ll be more your style, dark and macabre^^

The sheer bling of that model is making my eyes water (in a good way.) Maybe he should be called the King of Bling?

I hadnt noticed the colour variation on the axe blade before, btw - that's really rather nice. Noted, and shall be used in a future project...

I agree with folks about the OSL on the book. It gets lost in the bling. A stronger colour, or a much darker book would do the job, I think.

Wow, that chair would put any hip-hopper to shame...
but splendid paintjob, mate, I especially like the book actually, it's a nice contrast with the gold and seems very detailed.

cheers guys=) the book pages are sculpted, so it´s not me being brilliant with freehands meph;) but i´m gonna put other books on the base around him , that´ll be a test of my level of freehand=)

by the way everyone, i´m on the lookout for a decent display base/sockel. anyone have any tips, i need a square base with a top that is something like 10 by 10 centimeters (4x4'), prefereably wood and with a nice frame. i dont mind paying rather high prices. local shop didnt have one, but wanted to talk comissions for battlefield trophys:p

A good source is any webshop with religious paraphernalia, lots of wooden bases with even glass bells to put over them. ;)

loads of pics inc! wanted to do some shots of the progress i made on a certain base over the last few days=)

thorgrim will be on top, together with a small tree, a engineer and a standard bearer. the lower part will be old dwarven halls abandoned, but filled with treasure. may put a miner down there aswell=)

everything is made with green stuff!

phew! you fella should buy some hirstart moulds instead of greenstuffing everything. not that its anything wrong with the stuff you have made, but to made things easier (and cheaper!). anyway nice progress. sandblob-roof-thing looks a bit odd but i guess it will end up more stylish ;)
