Love that steel, it looks so much better now it's lighter. I think you can still push the contrast on the gold, go darker. I'm not up to your standard but check my blog tutorial on gold NMM, I went with a final purple glaze. It may just give you an idea, butushing the contrast really worked.

I love the armor on those guys, G. First rate, and it's fits them very well. My traditional NMM gold uses a black glaze for initial shadows, reinforced with purple in spots. I put purple on curves or places where the armor moves the most because color adds volume. But in this case, I chose what Canny called a "Rose Gold." Used Mournfang brown first, which is just like your Dark Flesh, then I put down some VMC Smoke, then finally S75 Flat Black in the deepest shadows.

Didnt touch the steel, but everyone seems to think so. :) I must have just finally taken a good pic.

@ Maxxxxxxx: Thanks for the advice. For the base, you made me think some more about the scene and I think I'll somehow incorporate the dead vs alive flowers on it. I'd originally wanted to discount this because there is a Flower Knight out there where someone left a trail of flowers appear in his path. But I suppose either a barren earth or metal flower or both look would work pretty well.

I was was looking for those pics, so thanks. Some ideas there. The only issue is that I don't know how easy it will be to paint a full figure. There are some very heavy folds in the cloak. I am starting to think about some skull and flower or skeleton and flower base. Actually, this will be perfect, but not sure I can paint it into the folds:

I'm here all night, folks! ;)

Seriously though, might be something to this owl theme. Also of interest to me because I have a pair of barn owls that live right behind me in an ancient tree. They were here last summer, mated and had many babies, left for the winter and returned this summer. Just started hearing their new babies. The owl is a mighty beast, or at least they sound like a pterodactyl when they hunt every other night. Something freaky about the white feathered killers gliding silently through the night skies...

When I wasn't owl watching tonight, I painted for about an hour. Progress:

Looking good! I try to shape my GS while it is still soft, but I was aware of its resistance to sanding, so that is a great trick to know if I'll ever need to do so.

Guardians of gahool...cmon now you all know you watched it...don't pretend you didnt....lolololol looking professional as per the usual....nice.

Thank you all! I should have quite a bit done by this weekend. Goal is to complete the entire thing before I move to Florida June 12. Gandalf, still not sure about the base or the freehand. The base I've received quite a bit of good ideas. I'll probably go with a base where everywhere he has travelled, the wild life turns to gold or brass or something. The butterfly in his hand turns to brass. For the freehand, still not sure at all because of the nature of the folds in the cloak. Probably a simpler type design is best, despite the urge to go all out. I think I'm tempted by Demihuman's recent success to prove my freehanding skills.

In in other news, by the time you read this they are probably all gone, but KD released some new figures today. I got the Fighter, the one with the cool shield. It was between her and the Knight, and since I've done so much NMM lately I had to get the female.

Hehe pain can be useful once in a while.
today I woke up at 3am because of it. Looked at my handy by default and saw the KD mail.
There were still 300 of each at that time. So I bought all. :)
And luckily this time they had the cheaper postage too.

omg i will never understand the KD hype, these miniatures are hideous and just plain wrong imho!
the white knight looks ok though, or so it seems... ;)

Yeah I remember your thoughts on female minis, Skel. They sure do sell, though. I bought the female more as different type of mini to paint than as a favorite type of mini. It will give me a chance to paint subtle female skin, maybe some sheer effect on the hose, and then of course capitalize on the NMM in case I suck everywhere else. I just couldn't do the knight after so much NMM armor lately.

Though it's obvious to those that have paid attention that I am using Tommy Soule as inspiration on this piece, I will of course make some of it my own. And therein lies my conundrum. My current plan was to do all the cloth in red violet. Basically a warlock purple with blue ink for the shadows. However, when I look at the mini I can't help but want to go red just like T. Soule. It especially suits my version because my steel is a bit darker. Any thoughts on this from anyone?

no idea, probably because sex sells. I know I like them much more than screaming bald men for example :) (eg. Space Marines, original term came from a GK forum)

That said from this release the white knight is my favorite with the sword hunter a close second, the other two... only for the collection (and worst case can be sold for 75-80€ without a problem).
And I think there is a few that can appeal even to the general taste too. Like the: flower witch and knight, archivist, 40 and 80 year old savior, grand mother if you leave some bits off :), slender man, beyond the wall

if you think it suits it better and you like it more, then don't limit yourself just because someone else already done it. Use the red for it as you want.
