AL, I think the point he was LOLing at was the idea that the Iranians would ally themselves with Saddam. His regime was after all a mortal enemy of the revolutionary Iranian government, and the war they fought was ghastly in the extreme - human wave attacks, chemical weapons and all manner of atrocities. Being mutually pissed at a third party only works as an allying point if the nations involved have no reason to dislike each other, as in Iran and Venezuela\'s case. Neither has any historical beef with the other, and both stand to gain by standing up against the US together.
