Of course there\'s different art forms, but contemporary art seems to have a totally different \"agenda\" than, for instance, renaissance art. So, my point is to look at what artists today mean with art, rather than what art was about in the 15th century.

well, in the 15th century they were considered as craftmans and not artists, quite comparable to illustration and design nowadays - there are much more things that are considered as \"art\" nowadays than in the past, besides contemporary art (or cerebral/conceptual art) - i even think, that it would be far easier nowadays to be considered as an \"miniature artist\" then it was hundred years ago. nowadays the mentality is quite more tolerant and open for different things, not that limited like in the past....and that´s partly an achievement of the avant garde in the art, which a lot of people are considering as \"crap\"...

Well, that makes my point even clearer... because I have always thought miniature painting was more like illustration than fine art, and if the renaissance artists (which almost everyone refers to in this argument) also were considered illustrators then so much better!

To round things up, I think we agree pretty much on this subject, Edgar, since we both mostly want to enjoy this hobby and not bother about the labels.
(BTW, I\'m putting the finishing touches on one of your sculpts, at this very moment... )
