Hey, there\'s been a few comic book comments pop up and I wanted to put this out. What do you read, what do you reccomend?
I\'m a hard core Marvel fan. Really dislike DC, I just think the power curve is too high and rarely am I interested in the goofy continuity or wierd as hell things they try to do with their characters. Iron Man is an alcoholic, Green Lantern loses to the colro yellow. I\'ll go for Iron Man every time....
Anyway, here\'s some stuff I really enjoy(ed).
-Thor! Always had a soft spot for this guy but his writing was about as complex as my metalic painting process. From the point of \"Avengers Dissasmbled: Thor\" which was great there was a about a three year break were Thor was sleeping. He\'s back and the writer is the Bab 5 guy Stracynski. Or however you spell that name. It\'s great, though I am waiting for him to actually start DOING stuff... but fore hero stuff much better than the average.
-Cap A. He\'s my favorite character (even though I am a Canadian) and from the newest re-boot to now the Ed Brubaker team has done a great job of putting the legend to rest and bringing in a new Cap A, in a believable and non insulting way. I\'m enjoying this so far.
-The Incredible Hercules. Yeah that\'s right, I said it. The poor man\'s Thor has always sucked nuts. Nobody has ever cared about writing for this guy but something happened during \"World War Hulk\" that got the ball rolling on this one. Hercules has taken over the Incredible hulk for a little bit and it\'s got a great blend of humor and intelligent Hero writing. I\'d pick it up.
-Planet Hulk. This was super cool, and paved the way for World War Hulk (Which was a little crappy, especially at the end). If you\'ve always wondered \"Why don\'t that justy blast that guy into space\" then this is the TPB for YOU!
-Civil War Trades. I thought this was an interesting premise but still didn\'t buy it. I only mention this as if you\'ve been away from comics for a while and want to get back in you will not make it anywhere continuity wise until you read up on this arc. EVERY hero was involved and probably changed fromthis arc.
-Rising Stars and Supreme Power. Not REALLY Marvel titles (especially Rising Stars as it\'s published by Top Cow) but these are great, great reads written by Stazynski. He\'s good at this!
-If you\'re a punisher fan then you need to pick up the Max Punisher books.
Stuff to miss.... Spider man sucks wang right now. \"One more day\" is the single most insulting thing Marvel has done to readers that I can think of in recent memory. It\'s that bad.
I\'m am Mutant Hater. I\'ve never, ever been able to get into the whole \"we\'re different\" angst thingy. I\'m supposed to buy the fact that Colussus, the buff Russian who can turn into metal and lift a couple buses has a hard time getting into the hottest clubs because of his race? Do the cops always pull over and harrass Jean Grey, asking her \"what she\'s doing to drive such a nice car\" or any of that? Angel, the rich as hell white kid with wings? You\'re different, you have WINGS dummy! People make fun of you, fly away! Ack. They\'re bad as ever.
There\'s lots of good stuff out there. Moon Knight is even good now.
So, any thoughts?
