A common misconception........MAC\'s Do get virus attacks. (As does Linux)
Only the software is not quite as vunerable to certain types of attacks. Hence the much lower publicity.

Mac\'s have their uses, but having worked in IT for 30+ years I still see them as Graphic manipulation machines.
Besides the single mouse click (What is that all about??) most PC enthusiasts like to delve into the guts of their machines and do some upgrading.
(Hey I\'d be out of a job if we couldn\'t upgrade machines.)

All Apple computers since Janurary 2006 have shipped with the 4 button Mighty Mouse.

To answer your question simply and without all this technical jargon Vincenti, an apple mac is a little raincoat for fruit.

Welcome back Adie!

On to page 20? :D

I have worked with both and I got to say that I agree with Mike. I\'ve cut and edited movies in final cut for example.. and if there is a problem it is generally a very wierd one that there is most often no solution to what so ever. And if one program won\'t do what you want.. there is not likely that you can get another one in a reasonable amount of time either. It\'s bound to stress the hell out of you if you are on a deadline. With PC there are always ways around everything. But with Mac it\'s like those cars with the engine covered in plastic.

But on the other hand.. don\'t get me started on PC and more precisely Windows... :cussing:

@Evil Dave: You can always discuss anyway... ;) Doesn\'t matter if you respect both opinions.

If your have a top protection program and keep it updated a few times aday if possible then its safe and you have an all round top computer.

I will give you a hint... I see something similar and better on my computer...

It is a MAC and it is Called OS X ... now explain to me why Microsoft would make it sooooo similar... because company\'s see competition and TRY to surpass their technology, but in this case... TRY is more than accurate!

And now for the random PC hatin\' comment:

PC\'s suck cause I say so :D

I\'ll second that! and I sell PC\'s for a living :D

When ever a customer comes in to me and says he (mostly a he) wanna buy Vista I say I don\'t sell that crap... stick to XP (wich is working better than nothing) OR buy a Mac.

I\'m gonna get me a Macbook as soon as I can afford it - that is when I have fooled the 100:th customer to buy a PC wich they have to upgrade in 6 months to keep it alive...

ps. I still got my Mac SE (15Mhz) with a 40mb SCSSI-drive and it rocks, it runs Performer by MOTU and I can play Surgeon lol ds.

Honestly ZapotekE, you\'re searching for a holy grail that doesn\'t exists. Computers are all crap!! I honestly thought Mac would be better.. but they aren\'t. Unless you\'re easily aroused by menus fading etc. They used to be better though I distinctly remember.. But now they\'re just as shitty. And their laptops.. jeez. Keyboard not working.. touch pad stops responding. computer shutting down without a reason etc.

No that\'s because all new Macs have an included counter that will make the computer selfdestruct in a certain amount of time. :p

Seriously, there are problems with both PC and Macs and getting a Mac won\'t save you much trouble from the experience I have as when things go bad it\'s usually very difficult to do something about. If you take care of your PC it will work just as fine. I have had more teeth gnashing with Mac in the last 2-3 years then with PC.

Macs are good for some stuff, PCs are good for other stuff.

I think I\'m supposed to like Macs, what with me being a web designer, and I guess I don\'t mind them, and if you want something that looks pretty they certainly fit the bill!

I don\'t use one though. I have been using PCs since my mates and I used to lug our 486s around to each other\'s houses to play multiplayer Doom, and I\'m rather attached to them instead.

Two things I need my machine to do are play games and offer a plethora of easy and widespread illegal downloading options, and PCs do this much better in my experience.

Ok, this seems like the perfect place to ask. I\'m probably buying a new computer in the next year and I\'ve been thinking about mac. I\'ve built and upgraded my last two PC\'s, and I enjoy it. The Vista/direct x10 has got me thinking about switching. I heard you can\'t have Dx10 without vista, and all new games will need Dx10. I don\'t like being pushed around by a company like that. So based on the following what would you guys say?
1. I play games, but my interest is slowing down. I would like the option to play something new.
2. I\'d like to use graphics software for mini\'s and other things.
3. Is the vista fuss worth switching over?

Dont buy a Mac then, games rarely make it over to Apple (only top sellers) and then they only port them over a year after thier initial release. (or longer)

Unless you run bootcamp or paralle and install a Windows OS

Interesting, i just got home and found my Home PC\'s Vid card had gone out.
So I popped in a spare I had laying around and whammo, good to go, probably 5 minutes tops.
Had I not had a spare I could\'ve just gone to Wal-mart, or drive over to CompUSA and bought a new card, and it would\'ve taken me 20 minutes top.

@Avelorn: There really is no reason to debate, Mac\'s cannot do what I want them to do. To me it\'s like arguing which is better: 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, both are good in certain situations, both are worse in others.

Vista is crap so far (imo)... many many problems with it. Looking good - but working bad. I\'d rather have a system with monocrome colors but working. :)
