Plus with any recent Russian military pictures and videos (e.g Georgia) you see all the Russian infantry sitting on top of these and T-90s instead of inside. May be a case of doctrine as well but I have read how unpopular a steel roof above you can be in an explosion like a mine/IED hit..
Well there's no seatbelts in these things! XD .Something happened in the sandbox that illustrated the point and gave us all a cracking laugh. A section of infantry had never really had much experience in a Warrior, so the CO saw fit for them to practice deployment before they went into the rough of it. In true dads army style they were bundled into this thing, off it goes for a bit, stops, deploy, back in etc etc, till eventually it hit a mine. Out stumble a bunch of very dazed and confused soldiers...Right into another Warrior to keep at it, as the CO wasn't satisfied yet. What happens next? The exact same thing about 10m down the road lol!
You can imagine how blue the air was at that point, a great contrast to some very red faces! The rest of us were falling over ourselves with laughter.
Of course the trick is getting behind one!..I believe tactics to attack a conventional enemy would be to dismount at 1000 - 300M to FEBA and the APCs (IFV's) would provide fire support to a classic infantry assault, not charge in and wait for someone to shoot up your fuel tank. of course they wouldn't be operating alone either.
Of course the main thing is to get at least local air superiority too....
Correct. A section attack with armour usually means "dismounting" and tabing it in the last bit on foot while these things keep the enemy busy and take out the nasty things that make us squishy things go *squish* in short order.
However, if it's a really "hot" enviroment you'll be in the thick of it before dismounting amidst a flurry of angry wasp like things. Depends on the situation really. Although, by the textbook you're right.
