That Predator has the same trouble the Bradleys have. On the field, it looks like a tank, moves like a tank and has a gun like a tank. So it gets targeted with anti tank rounds...

Well the Bradley, that Predator and the UK Warrior are all IFVs whereas the Rhino is meant to be an APC like the Viking etc. Suprises me that in the far future of space warfare the Space Marines have developed an APC with less armour than their tank when an IFV would be far more appropriate for the spess mehreens. The Imperial Guard get an IFV with the Chimera so appear to give their soldiers more fire support than the super space marines!

i think its just game workshop maximising profit one chassis does both with minor (cost effective) additions, its what the military does sure the 113 chassis used for tons of stuff nowadays missile launchers ambulance, hq comms etc. reality check if we make it that far into the future im sure we will have invented something better than tracked vehicles for covering rough ground, if not then we deserve to go the way of the dinosaur lol. just to stir the fluff a little more the guard dont wear power armour so probably need the extra suppressing fire to keep the enemy pinned while they debus, spess mahreens well the bullets just bounce off them and they need the extra space in the apc that would be taken up by ammo, guns, fire control and crew. unless wican's midget marines take off in a big way.

TBH though, troops these days are ferried around largely in armour with a decent bit of supporting fire mounted on it. The Rhino has a piddly Storm Bolter and maybe a missile...
In the far thrown future i'd expect new super alloys that mean you can throw heaps of neat stuff on them without worrying about armour or weight!

Although I concur with the fitting thing. Getting a patrol into the back of a Warrior with full kit is a bloody tight squeeze most the time. No padded seats either, what's all that about!

You're assuming that the Imperium abandons their Soviet method of combat. Overwhelm the enemy with poorly equipped bodies and keep the decent artillery at bombardment range. Tanks are more expensive than Imperial soldiers.

Ah HAH! That's the imperial Guard. (Cannon fodder with a fancy pants name) We're talking Space Marines here! I'd die for a cause, but I wouldn't be as dumb as the IG about it =P
I doubt we'd fit 2 Space Marines in a modern IFV sideways! This thing should be HUGE! It's possible that only a land raider could snuggly field a squad of marines. (in scale)

Getting ten Space Marines in a Rhino could employ the transperambulation of psuedo-cosmic anti-matter. Or something.

Having boxes (reactive armour) everywhere seems the way of the future!

Plus with any recent Russian military pictures and videos (e.g Georgia) you see all the Russian infantry sitting on top of these and T-90s instead of inside. May be a case of doctrine as well but I have read how unpopular a steel roof above you can be in an explosion like a mine/IED hit.. :p

Of course the trick is getting behind one!..I believe tactics to attack a conventional enemy would be to dismount at 1000 - 300M to FEBA and the APCs (IFV's) would provide fire support to a classic infantry assault, not charge in and wait for someone to shoot up your fuel tank. of course they wouldn't be operating alone either.
Of course the main thing is to get at least local air superiority too....

Well there's no seatbelts in these things! XD .Something happened in the sandbox that illustrated the point and gave us all a cracking laugh. A section of infantry had never really had much experience in a Warrior, so the CO saw fit for them to practice deployment before they went into the rough of it. In true dads army style they were bundled into this thing, off it goes for a bit, stops, deploy, back in etc etc, till eventually it hit a mine. Out stumble a bunch of very dazed and confused soldiers...Right into another Warrior to keep at it, as the CO wasn't satisfied yet. What happens next? The exact same thing about 10m down the road lol!
You can imagine how blue the air was at that point, a great contrast to some very red faces! The rest of us were falling over ourselves with laughter.

Correct. A section attack with armour usually means "dismounting" and tabing it in the last bit on foot while these things keep the enemy busy and take out the nasty things that make us squishy things go *squish* in short order.
However, if it's a really "hot" enviroment you'll be in the thick of it before dismounting amidst a flurry of angry wasp like things. Depends on the situation really. Although, by the textbook you're right.

Not to mention potential ambushes. If I know that hammering the rear door will net me a 'barbecue'(unpleasant as that is), well....wait until they've passed, and then wallop.

russian tactics where "shock armies" , millions of men to punch through to the french coast overwhelming everything in their path. nato tactics atomic artillery try n stop em in the passes. they estimated that the ruskys could be at the coast in 24 hours, life expectancy in berlin 30seconds. the worrying thing was that during certain planned nato excercise the ruskys moved their sixth shock armie by rail to the area opposite the excercise area and no one knew about it until several hundred thousand heavily armed extra spectators turned up.
unfortunately the american contingent in the battle reached their casualty quota early in the excercise by dropping their paratroopers on an electric railway line (rest in peace lads) and the excercise was brought to an early conclusion . im not sure memory's not that good could have been one of the excercises either side of crusader.
