Hello DarkMess re. the diorama. I really like the beastie leaping from the train, I thought at first that it looked a little empty with all the action hidden down by the tunnel but putting something up top looks good to me. Reminds me a little of one of the earliest scenes in the video game Stalker, these radioactive doggies running around a small tunnel under an embankment. And the sword on the purple chap is really very impressive. :beer: B.

looks brill, especially the maw jumping off and the fella looking up. very dynamic

i dont, i get my lovely assistant to do it for me lol, thanks by the way

just started with the highlight/shading, kinda jaded after work so iv only done a bit of shading, gunna be puttin some more purple back in to the more extreme highlights on the top, gunna get up bright and early 2morro to finish the armour and make a start on the metallics, hopefully fingers crossed

pics are a bit naf, theirs a little more contrast irl, also i need to sand down the middle of the cape, its only the basecoat their so hopefull i wont ruin anythin

also, how little gold do u think i can get away with? i know emps child are purple and gold, but am far more comfortable with silver than gold, i was thinking all the the 2 aquillas only, the rest in silver...

You have got to share how you painted that sword!

The sword is airbrushed I saw it at gd.. very, very smooth...

@Mousekiller - like freak said, its all hasslefree, their called red mawes, u can find em in the alien/beast section.
@AlienGod, Alex is right, iv done the sword with an airbrush, black undercoat, taped off one side, thenregal blue base, ice blue then IB mixed with white to highlights. then i came in and balanced out some of the shadows with a paintbrush

hi everyone,

little update on the dio, finally got everythin neated up and iv started painting it, iv used oils to weather the walls and iv started the graffiti, i want both walls pretty much covered in the stuff

i dont need this for my wamp ladder challenge anymore so i can take my time with it

also finished the blade of the sword on my other wl commis, their will prob be a few touch ups when i come back to it in a little while

Am also entering E2046's Winter Contest so expect to see hopefully at least one entry from me

I never seem to get swords right How do you do the transition from pure white to dark? I never seem to keep the pure white or the darkest color. Or my transition isnt' smooth

its just thin paint, a hair dryer and colours that work well together, if i tried to get that transition from black to white id struggle, but once i found colours that am comfortable with that work well together it gets much easier

Hi everyone!

it been a very long time since i last posted, iv been quite busy with lots of different things so sorry to anyone who was lookin forward to some progress, hopefully the next few bits and pieces will help make it up

Iv actually been quite busy painting wise over the last few months, iv got involved with my local GW to help increase the standard of painting their, which means ill be teachin intermediate classes to staff and jo public alike in feb, it also means iv been supporting their monthly painting comp, so 4 new minis done (theirs 2 quite nice ones), ill have pics of them some time next week. Iv also finally finished the wraithlords off! At the moment am working on entries for south chesire militaire, salute and gd paris, so busy busy busy!

only the base done so far, am hoping to put my base colours and highlights down with my airbrush, heres hoping...

am also working on a true scale marine for the little angels auction on wamp, not finished the whole sculpt yet but iv done molds for most of the parts so far, so hopefully ill get a true scale squad done for GDUK their might also be a fex knocking about soon, iv got the hasslefree dio to finish (done for salute), squiggy races (GD Paris hopefully!), am getti parts for a grot tank and ill be working on a massive dio soon involving the large scale version of Rackhams the crow i got a while back

yes it looks like ice, all looks very good. Will have to say hello when you get to South Cheshire Militaire, I am running a FOW stall for my local hobby store not sure if will get anthing done for the painting comp running out of time.

Beautiful work. Perversely, I'm loving the graffiti on your diorama more than the models themselves (and that's saying something because the model looks great).

I've seen your wraithlords before, and admired them then. And man...you definitely captured the Dark Hado Ryu freakin' perfectly. Keep it up man.

Hi everyone, its been a little while since i updated my wip and since i had my camera out taking pics for the little angels comp i thought id post some updates

Squiggy Races
the jockey has had alot done since my last update, he is largely finished, i just need to finish off his feet and sculpt the other fingers, started painting the ground work on the base, i think it needs alot more contrast, so am gunna come back with some washes after iv painted the road bricks

Hasslefree dio is sorta chuggin along, got alot of the base work done, started on Mckenzie, kinda stuck on the colour to paint the body armour and such, irl ud think it be black but then it lacks contrast and definition :squigglemouth:

Another ice experiment, not sure if the base fits with the viking, the scene doesnt seem natural to me, i think a small fantasy mini would fit better
