Ahem,
Here is the Sword maiden getting very close to being done. I still want to work a tiny bit more one her eyes and the starburst on teh top of her sword but basically finished. What do you think of the plinth? Not too bad for a first time huh?

And here is my progress on brutus. I added a little more glowy green to his (her?) eyes. I am seriously considering leaving off or heavily modding the big horned helmet thing. I just like the way that head looks like it is bursting out of a big, toothed boil.

So, I got a root canal last night. It was pretty awesome. Anyways I took some pain killers and decided to break out the dremel:

I am actually pretty happy with this. Still needs some greenstuff obviously. There are a ton of vanilla hellbrutes out there and I have another one in the box to paint normally. I am really enjoying painting the fleshy flesh so this way I can continue that into the focal point of his head and done to his crotch armor thing. He does look a little like he is "Staying Alive"
Grey does sound good for the armor Zab. that was my original color combo for the base coat, pink and grey. I have one shoulder pad handled now we just need to figure out the other one. Oozing blood down grey armor might look pretty good! Oooh blood dripping down grey and white checks??? Could be a winner

Hell yeah! that skin is looking amazing! the back looks so raw and like whale blubba!
Sword Maiden is looking very nice, get a little brown on to that tree for some contrast against the rock. Love the shield, the blues, and great skin too.
Should be well pleased with the wooden base too

Just wondering, where did you get the rock and tree from for the shield chick? Scratch built?

Hey man, the rock is two pieces of landscape bark and the tree is scratch built with brass wire and green stuff. Both are basically just dry brushed.

Finally figured out a color scheme for Brutus:

I kind of flip flopped the armor colors and I think it works good. I plan to lighten up the grey to a near white and pink/flesh in spots. With the brown I have a good color to work up to NMM gold or bronze or even rusty steel and a good color to work up to flesh with as well. The armor has some mouths and eyes sunk into it so I am looking forward to playing with NMM melting into skin.
I had nearly 3 solid hours to paint today! I forgot how much work it can be to stay focused also it really made me take note of how heavily I lean on my airbrush. Not necessarily a bad thing but I don't want to slip into complacency.
To shade the armor and do my black lining I used these with a little matte varnish:

I have been raiding the art supplies ever since the dragon dio and these have been in the back of a drawer for several years. I feel like we used to call them India Ink in school but I am not sure if that is correct. They are amazingly dark without being opaque and have a very thin consistency that seeks out cracks and crannies. Without any matte medium added, you can go back in after they are dry, re wet them and move them around clean or clean them up. Not sure how long that lasts but might be very useful down the line. With matte medium added they are a little more predictable and don't run everywhere or pool. Hopefully they are stable on the mini (!)
