Take some lighter green goblin green or some beige dip a corner of a sponge on it and wipe away and test the patter it works at dirt or mud spatter on flags the same way it works at chipping armor..gives texture. Also get some pigment powders like diff color browns and greens a do the same application on the already well painted banner. Things like these add more of a detail and depth to the banner being dirty fresh stains clashing with old dust stains build depth in realism..try it on a small piece you'll love the already well painted banner..other than that that's what I would do not saying it needs it but that's my contribution of an idea .other than that we'll done young man. I really like the weathering your status rating to incorporate on these newer models.now your Def getting the hang of it...it's fun don't even try denying it..lol good solid pro standard work. It's a dirty job but somebody's got to do it dems...ONWARD YOUNG ST ALWAYS WARRIOR.LMAO

Whoa LOL the sponge trick!!! Sweet sponge trick, I started using the sponge in the mid 80's on my dragons.

Here we can see the sponge trick for banners on my Chaos Dragon of 1999...

So that was you! I heard it was developed by a guy who spilled some of his poutine on his shirt in Montreal and tried to sponge it up with his fries. It made a cool pattern and he decided to try it out on his minis - then he tried it again with paint. That was the way I heard it, anyway :p

So can Wurrzag raise dead? Seriously, that is my WH question for the day.

Onto my new project: Operation Robot Witch.

I wanted to enter the Darkage contest here on CMON because i new it would draw some good competition and it fit well with time wise for me: About a month to finish something. Giant Pirate skeleton is having his resin poured right now. Which is a massive under taking...Who knew? If you like you can check out the progress here:

http://forum.reapermini.com/index.p...-of-the-colossus-wip-02911-colossal-skeleton/

So back to the Dark Age contest. I saw the Voice of the Prevailers fig and thought "hey, i have been having some good luck with the infinity ladies faces this looks like a great oppurtunity to flex my face skills..."

Nice round face, clearly sculpted eyes... looks great. I was just about to order her from CMON when I saw her for liek 1/2 off on e-bay. So I ordered from e-bay. What great deal!

NOT.

She showed up and her lovely face was smooshed into a big porcine snout with the bridge of her nose pressed flat and her eyes squished into squinty concave pin pricks... Actually she would have been fine to paint up for gaming but for the contest I wanted to do something, you know, really cool. So I thought about swapping her head but I didn't have great donor. Then I thought about swapping her head for a helmeted head, but again no great donor so I decided to bight the bullet and sculpt a helmet. Here is what I have so far:

Got a big round gem on there and some other 'trode type things. She's supposed to be psychic so maybe her "Voice" is like in your head? My hope is taht I can paint some fun gems on her helmet and then use her (massive) decolletage for a warm focal point amidst a bunch of cool robot gear. Not my first foray into sculpting, but definitely a novice. Trying to keep the sculpting with in my limited ability, but let me know what you think or if you have any ideas.

I think the mechanical details are gonna be your friend on the helmet, because right now it sorta reads as two huge, misnatched eyes. The gem idea is a cool one, but I think the other pale bit--the the lens?--needs to be moved lower, because it doesn't seem to be sitting whete her eye would actually be. If it isn't meant to be a lens, ignore me!

Lol, Mismatched eyes are my mechanical details. I might try to get a tube coming off her neck or something. It's a rough start but not quite in the bin.

Okay, thanks for the nudge. I went back to the Insane-O-Cavern and added some watch parts I have been dying to use on something. This B*tch is a ROBOT WITCH!

Got some little ones on her book cover too. They remind me of the Brotherhood of Steel crest.

I don't even think I am going to paint the ones on her wand. They look like they will be be a bear to paint, and I think they look darn good as is.

The gears look fantastic! And the wee circle bits under the big gem make it look less o_O (and I don't want you to think I thought it should go in the bin! Absolutely not. Don't even speak of it.)

Like what you've done on the head and staff Demi, great save on a poor cast. Are you going to add tubing ? This would add a bit more to each side being unique

Well, she is getting some paint on her at the moment. I have some larger watch parts coming in the mail for her base and I am thinking one of those might replace the neck piece that came with the original. If so, I won't have any room for tubes. Straps sound like a great, reasonably easy to sculpt, idea though. What do you think, sculpt them on wax paper out of green stuff and then glue in place?

Itela Justina looks pretty major. There was a Russian guy that had soem really great Inquisitor sculpts he was selling a while back but not nearly as ornate as that lady. Sculpts that good are really intimidating. Just cloak looks super tough.

If your already painting then making them on wax paper sounds a good idea, while drying roll the wax paper to add a curve to the straps making them easier to apply when dry.
