Hey little thing that makes it good, nice lines/ weathering on the toe nails.

For your dwarf, it was going to be alcatraz, then the docks (I see Zab is doing the dock) now may be a huge leap of vision to a fantasy -medieval golden gate bridge . .
Zab your one will be a frozen shore with some cracking ice, I figured I would do mine as the punakaiki blow holes (green rocky and wet). . . not a saucy dryad.

All of them will have a sea creature beneath . . . .

Yeah i was thinking of a steam punk GG bridge, but i wasn't sure how to incorporate it with out building a giant ass bridge o_O I may still go back to the streetcar tracks idea

Did little more fine tuning on the Sword Maiden. I added some brown to the tree per Canny's expert advice. Cleaned up the starburst on her sword. And reworked they eyes and the mouth, though you can't really see it in this photo.

I do like the way way her pose matches the tree in this pic. A happy coincidence. Also very very happy with the NMM on her bracer and sword hilt. Might be something to use on the Rackham Dwarves...

What do you guys think? I am in the final hours for this mini so I probably won't follow any of your advice but I would love to hear it anyways! lol

Love it. Also it's never to late for powders, just some subtle browns around the boots, base of the tree and on some of the rocks crevasses would tie it all together ;)

Well to be honest I think you should scrap it and try again....since your not going to take my advice though I shall be serious, I think it looks great. I was worried about the eyes (you know that) but I think her fiery red hair kind of amps her up. Shield is amazing, and I love the NMM you did. My only criticism is peice of the rock that goes off the edge of the base. Its confusing me because im not sure if its part of the tree root or part of the rock. Anyways already mentally voted on it (10) post it as is and you shall receive.

Hells Yeah you are! Good finishing with the moss/lichen, the Maiden really pops great stuff. The scene has come together well :)

Wow, I think this is great!!! The hair and the cloth are my favorite. They really couldn't be any better. The sword is amazing too. You pulled off the chrome look in a subtle fashion. The star burst is something I've always wanted to do, but have been too scared to try. So that is inspiring. The base is great in its simplicity. Really captures the movement of the piece. 9/10.

Okay Zab, I tried some pigments. They are different. the last time I tried them it was very cold and the would not stick to anything. So that was what I was expecting... even though today it is very hot. The pigments stuck very easily. I should have gone a little slower but I feel like I had a little serendipity on my side.

I went to the Local Game Store expecting to see the full range of Secret Weapon goodies but they only had some random colors in older looking pots. It seems like the LGS is fazing out all of their non GW painting supplies. Oh well, they did have some funky Vallejo colors on sale for $2 each. They did have some blue pigment powders and a dark green. I got the dark green as you will see below. I also had some dark earthy umber color so i mixed it with that.

I see some spots I need to clean up a tad but I think the green works.

Holy crap that worked - better than I thought too (good call on the green)! Keep in mind if you plan to spray it with a sealer it will knock the effect WAY back. So when do we see her in the gallery?

WoW! Love this Demi. The greens have worked brilliant on the rocks. The only tiny thing I can spot is the white sparky on the end of the sword looks out of place - this is really picking and I would leave it tbh.
Your best work to date :)

Yeah, I really like how the shield maiden turned out. The weathering on the shield is especially awesome. The skin, blues, and hair all look great and the sword is excellent. Nice job!

I can clearly see its the root now coming through the rock. Please oh please teach me how to do the stone work. It looks awesome.

Thanks everybody! Special thanks to AndyG for writing me up a nice critique. I really appreciate it.

I fixed the star bling thingy. AndyG pointed out that the rays should fade as they leave the center spot and that the spot should be brighter then the rays. I did a few more glazes on the sword. Also I darkened her boots with dark brown and aqua marine per his suggestion. Should be up in the gallery in the next day or so. Here is a teaser while it gets approved:

OOH I also figured out something on the f**king camera. Under-expose for dark backgrounds! Who would have guessed? That picture was under exposed about 1 and a 1/2 stops.

Is there a purple splotch on the left knee or is it just the photo?

No no, you're right, she took a fall. There is a little scab there. You can see the metal through it. I decided not to fix it and just paint it scabby color.

I hate saying this when i am painting on something but that fig was BEAT. It is a very dated mini, it was a crappy cast and when I got her she looked like she had spent about ten years in the bottom of someones dice bag. Skelletets, who i idolize, had commented on my Grot and Kill Kann that I need to work harder on prep. I had also been really interested in Bailey's skin tones to I thought this would be a good model to try both things out on. She did take a quite a bit of prep but if you see her up close the whole right (hidden) side of her faced is still very distorted. There was also a giant mold line down left side of her face and other issues. One lesson that I took to heart is that it is better to fill some mold lines then shave or file them away.

Anyways, She got dropped while I was painting her, I am not sure when or how, and took it on that knee and the opposite boot. You can see metal there too. I left the metal bare to pay tribute to her previous life.

Good spot!
