Well then you have to go with some kind of cog toothed pattern on the edges or circles with teeth of different sizes to throwback to her face o_O

That's what I am thinking too...

BFoK, nice of you to join us. It's a converted Dark Age "Voice of the Prevailers", but you would know that if you kept up with my WIP :)

KB and Zab, I did add gears on her book!

Canny, I want to nail down that brown/orange on her shirt before I fine tune the skin.

Hey now! I guess I have been slacking. But it wasn't just for you, it was everybody I have been missing. But I come back from vacation and you not only finish a bad ass skeletal giant, but you start on an equally cool sculpt. My next project is the Flower Knight from KD, which incidentally sort of reminds of your Prevailer, so I am all sorts of excited over painting it.

You our mentioned having problems with coming up with good color schemes. I am totally the same way and will spend days mulling over things. Two things have been helpful to me though. Go out and get a book on color and painting. I have one that's designes for both acrylic and oil painters and it can really get my pallet wet, if us know what I mean :) But secondarily, check out te gallery of Sebastien Archer (Automaton). He picks very good combinations and does a good job of describing how he arrives at his decisions. http://www.guildofharmony.com/painted_minis.php

I assume this is your Dark Age entry? Best of luck. You still owe me a WAMP Ladder.

That helmet is really working, the metals look fantastic! I do agree that she seems a bit pink in the fleshy bits. Dark Age stuff can look awesome with funky skin tones, though...push it into the weird zone! Freaky rat pinky skin!

Thanks!

Creepy hot skin is a good idea. I fished out my old GW washes and I have Baal Red, maybe a couple of applications of that are in order. I need to figure what I am doing with the yellow nmm on her waist and shoulders. Should have a couple of hours this morning

Thanks for the link BFoK. I think part of my color problem is that I look at sections of my mini and say to myself "I am going to paint this section blue and shade it purple." But maybe I need to start with much less saturated colors or earth tones and then shade and highlight with my more intense colors.

Got some work done on her base during nap time yesterday, I need to go in with some dark colors and define some shadows back into it, but you can see where I am going. If you ever pick up some Tamiya metallic paints I can wholeheartedly recommend Flat Aluminum. That's what the shiny bit is here. Also I never new this, but Tamiya paint cleans up with alcohol. I had been using mineral spirits forever. Trying to clean up the garage and the Tamiya paints came out of their box.

Out of this world demi, base is amazing. Colour choices I think that's something I need to do also, I start with a strong colour maybe I should start with a neutral and go both ways for high light and shadow.

Yellow NMM? How about Yellow TMM, WHAT? NO WAY!

Got fired up reading Bailey's blog this morning: http://powellminipainting.blogspot.com/ and decided I didn't feel like NMM anyways.

Since I had the TMM's out for the base I thought I would see how some of Reaper's Old Bronze looked on her waist and shoulders. Then I thought I should add some texture like Bailey is doing on his Aide-de-Campe, which got me thinking thinking about Tomb Kings and all their little goldy details. I Did a gallery search on "Tomb" and who should pop up on the top of the list? Mr. Sproket, of course, with his 2012 Power Slave: http://www.coolminiornot.com/317141?browseid=11023388

So I decided some gems were in order on the shoulder pads. They were fun to do and I do like the red. What do you think, blue on the other shoulder so we can tell which way she is going?

Oh also got the NMM done on her leg:

Here is a better shot of her waist parts:

First off, great choice of reading material.

The NMM on the legs look great. I already really like the gem details on the shoulder. This is a really cool looking piece.

Thanks everyone!

I got some more painting done. Finished painting on the jewels on her shoulder pads and added some freehand pattern to her robe that I think is working. I also painted the necklace thing below her boobs. I have a ton of different textures on her and if I did it again I think I might like to lick a them out of them but the painting is going fast and I having fun so what the hey.

In other news Isle of the Colossus came in second in the Reaper forum contest that it was painted up for and got a silver over on P&P so I am pretty happy with that. Odinsgrandson took first place with this sweet Nethyrmaul: http://www.coolminiornot.com/366606

Here is where I am at with the Robot Witch currently:

In real life the pattern on her cloak isn't quite so subtle. I want to paint the white ribbons hanging from her waist and then I will take of the masking tape on her wand and finish her up. Got some painting time lined up this weekend so hopefully I can knock her out!
