With regards to Allan, Cyril and whomever else wishes to come to the UK I have but this to say...bring it on!

It\'s not the fact that you win a demon that is so satisfying. It\'s who you beat to win it. Maybe this will make life harder at the UK demons (and it\'s tough already), but that\'s just good reason to try harder

I was talking to someone bout this yesterday, and you know what I like most about the fact that a lot of the high level winners are travelling to other GDs? Because it pitches them against competition that they would otherwise not have had. I mean to say that it really gives a good overall view of where everybody\'s at..... did this make sense? i\'m not sure, just got up..... :)

I know what would be sporting! If you all told us what you were painting! That would help everyone out:D

@Cyril great to hear, that you´re planning to come to germany this summer :)

The rules are just for 1st places of the former years german GD, so don´t worry. Okay makes me a bit more sad about the rules, the more great painters from other countries coming to germany ... but i still hope they change it a month or so before GD ;)

UK and germany might be really nice this year. Maybe Pete and Mike can take Matt Parks and Joe Hill with them to germany this summer ;)

@Sascha: you dont think my painting will be competition enough? ;)

Joking aside, people appear to be doing the whole travelling thing this year, so we\'ll see what happens with Matt and Joe :D I am sure mike will speak with them at some point...

Dear All,
Thought I\'d put my two pence worth in. Obviously the best of any sort of competition is goinig to be the one where the most top competitors attend. Here in the UK we are very lucky in that, traditionally, top painters from all over Europe and even the US come here to enter, ergo: amazing standard of competition. The only problem with the UK is that many of our best painters work for Heavy Metal and so can\'t compete. Not so in France where not only were there many top international painters (for the first time?) but also all the supremely gifted french painters. True masters of their respective styles, their work was hugely inspiring I haven\'t had such an urge to paint in literally years as after seeing their work. Allan C, 18 years old, what can I say!?! Personally speaking I\'ve never seen a better GD and I was really proud to compete in it. Plus we (Matt, Mark, Richard and I) had an incredible time and met amazing people. My thanks to all those who help make it such a memorable weekend, I expect to see as many of you as possible in the UK this October! Good luck in all your various GDs. My respect, regards and thanks.... Joe

hooray, GW released new rules for german GD today:

sooo here are the new rules - still too much limitations, but now for everyone

- everyone can attend a maximum of 3 different categories
- all entered minis must be citadel, GW, forgeworld or scratchbuild minis
- conversions are allowed (oh GW is soooo gentle ) but has to hit the GW-background
- entries have to be delievered by the artist
- they keep their right to say *no we don´t accept this entry*
- winners of a former years cat are banned from the winning cat but can enter any other cat

funny: the slayersword is given to the overall winner on the day of Gamesday, but GW keeps their right to send the sword to the winner with snailmail later on

cats:

fantasy single: as usual, everything on a non-monster-base is right here
fantasy monster: guess what
fantasy squad: 10-30 minis of a regiment with command group .... no more fantasy command group .... don´t know if i like this new rule, but depending on last years few entries here it won´t help this cat

40k single: on 25mm or 40mm roundbase
40k squad: a squad following the rules of a codex or inomine patris .... not so good for home-made chapters
40k monster/vehicle: tanks and monsters you know

=I=/big scale: for all 54mm scale minis - scratchbuild, converted or original
bloodbowl: a complete bloodbowl-team

diorama: guess what not bigger then 30cmx30cmx30cm

lotr single mini: a single lotr-mini on 25mm roundbase
lotr squad: at least 4 minis not placed in a diorama or scene, those will be judged in diorama section

costumes: for all freaks out there

youngbloods: for all under 14 years, entry should be a single mini

open: you know, the bigger the better

staff: only cat the GW-staffers are allowed to enter .... believe me it´s really the only available cat

being restricted to 3 possible categories is a bit sad, but means to concentrate on a few entries. Now it is the question where to enter. Get a sure win in those weak cats like lotr or bloodbowl, or have a good fight in the hardest cats like warhammer single or warhammer monster.

Now i really hope that a lot of painters from different countries come to germany :D

Man I feel soooo old now it is not funny. Ive admired your work Allen for some time now.. And to now find out your only 19 totally amazes me. As to the subject of traveling to the UK for Demons, Ivedone it 5 times now and took home demons in 3 of them. Not sure if Ill make it this year due to other financial considerations..as Im totally remodeling and building a new kitchen.. Cha Ching$$$.. Makes even GW prices look cheep lol So we wil see if I make it or not..I hope too. If I do it will probably be my only Demons for the year.

Man, as if we didn\'t have enough competition in the UK yet...
Well, the Dutchies are forming an united front this year so you al have been warned lol (*insert evil laughter*).
Will Joe and Matt have enough time to finish as much mini\'s for the UK GD as last year because they had to take some time to finish the mini\'s for the French GD right?
