That\'ll be easy. If I\'m inside the Golden Demon area, I took the job. If I\'m painting at the Demon Lounge, I didn\'t... lol

UPDATE:

As I predicted earlier, GW has approached me with the possibility of photographing the Golden Demons (plus possibly some general coverage, too). In which case, I would have to commit to ALL THREE Games Days: Baltimore, Chicago, and Toronto.

Actually, I believe you should. At least they should cover your travel expenses in full.

A question for those who have been before..?

I just asked Aaron but figured some of you might be able to help. What is the lighting situation at the BMORE GD? The highlights on my entry look good and poppy under my painting light but a bit flat in the middle of the room with natural lighting.

Do any of you remember what the lighting was like? Do I need to \"over-highlight\" stuff so that it looks good in the convention center? Do the judges bring their own lighting set-up to judge under?

Thanks for your help.

Usually lightning is crappy, however the rumor had it that they will have cabinets with internal light this year. Don\'t take my word for it though, as I said it is a rumor.

From what I remember last year in Baltimore, the judges brought a little flip-up Ott Lite, just like the one on my painting table. They would take the first-cut models under it to figure out the first through third place winners.

It\'s a GREAT white light. If you don\'t paint with one, I highly recommend it.

hmm thats a great tip, thanks dirty... is anyone here planing to enter the new catagory \"large scale model\" or \"Large\" or whatever? i hope there are a few entries in there. that would suck if it was totaly niglected.

I was gonna enter Warhammer Large Model (a plastic Giant), but now that I\'m working Games Day I don\'t feel like I should. Technically I *could*, since I\'m a freelancer and not technically *staff*... Still, though. I\'d feel weird about it. And I don\'t think I\'d have time to finish it, anyway. I might bring it along with me to show the WIP to some of you guys, though. I\'d LOVE the feedback on him!

Yep. It\'s official now. I\'m working the Games Days. Which will be cool, because I\'ll get to see even MORE of you all, instead of just those of you who come to Baltimore. I really do miss working the Golden Demon area, even though it gets REALLY stressful trying to shoot all the models people want me to, but utilizing my college degree and my favorite hobby at the same time is always cool. :)

Sadly, Jess, I don\'t think I\'ll have a lot of time for cuddling while I\'m working... :( I know how heart-broken you must be... If you come hang out with us at Edgar\'s afterwards, though, I\'ll *definitely* make sure there is room for some cuddles... ;)

And if some of you coming to Games Days haven\'t met me before, come by Golden Demon and say hi! I\'ll be the short, reddish-blond guy with glasses looking like a kid in a candy store. And most likely with a Tootsie Pop.

(I\'m diabetic, and I\'ll need the extra sugar all day so I don\'t pass out! lol )

You\'re coming all the way from Nottingham?? Wow! Quite the trek for you!

Coincidentally enough... I live in Nottingham, Maryland... lol

Skeeve, I don\'t know yet if I\'m going to be judging or not yet, (I\'m hoping to judge) If not, I might have something with me that I can enter in to the Open ;)

Oh, NOW I know who you are, Durham!!! lol

That\'s awesome that you\'ll be in Chicago, man!! We\'ve talked to each other for years, but have yet to be in the same place at the same time! :D

We\'ll *DEFINITELY* hafta have a few beers...!

Oh, and they\'d be retarded if they didn\'t drag you over to judge...

Well, I\'m glad you\'re doing the photos Dirty, it just wouldn\'t be the same without you. Too bad it ruins your plans for a lazy day of hanging out and doing a little painting though. (But getting paid is great too).

Now if I can just finish my entry. Oh well, sleep is overrated.

Actually...the woman who is running the Golden Demon area knows Durham Red personally, so if she sees him (which I\'m sure is an inevitability), she\'ll drag him over.

She also lives next door to me, so I\'ll just walk over and knock on her door to remind her that Durham will be there and should be judging. :)

Yeah... I wish I could just hang out and paint, too... I\'ve been trying to finish this Bretonnian army for about 3 or 4 years now, and I always seem to have something come up... At least one of the finished units snagged me a Bronze Demon a couple years ago! :D

Because I\'ll be working the show, I\'ll be in the middle of the mad photo rush when normal lunch is going on. I know Golden Demon Registration is closing at 11:00 AM this year, so I can prolly go to lunch right around that time, or maybe 11:30, if anyone\'s interested. I know... It\'s a little early. I just have to work it in around the photography schedule.

From what I remember, the Demon Lounge is generally near or next to the Studio Guests...usually somewhere smack in the middle of the convention hall. If that has changed this year, I\'m sure anyone with a Staff shirt will be able to direct you to where it is (except maybe for me... lol ).

ALSO: From what I\'ve heard, Edgar\'s Bar and Grille is NO LONGER THERE!! But, directly across the street to the north of the Convention Center is a restaurant/bar called The Wharf Rat. That would be a good place to meet for food and drinks after Games Day is over. And it\'s close.

See you Saturday!

Boooo - that\'s terrible news about Edgar\'s. Just another casualty of the economy I guess.
I\'m a little sad to hear you\'ll be working this year Steve...so little time for cuddles. ;-)
Hubby & I may be able to do an early lunch however (11am-ish)...my schedule for the lounge kind of requires it.
See everyone there!!!

That would be GREAT to have lunch with you and the Hubby!! As long as he doesn\'t mind the incessant cuddling... ;)

Yeah, it seems every time I get to see you, I\'m always working. :( But you\'ll join us at the Wharf Rat afterwards, right? I think a lot of the CMON folks are going to be out there... RIGHT??!!
