My, my. Folk are getting busy. My trooper is still in the shop 
I will go and buy it this weekend but i don\'t know when i shall be starting it. It will be ready on the day though.

@Bill : See, all you needed was to try to do NMM. I like how the steel has that dark finish to it, and as you said, some cleaning up is needed, but overall, it\'s convincing .

I will not be able to get to GD this year so I need a adress to send my mini to, and I am paitning in rather spartan conditions so I will not be able to varnish it.

As everyone will have to mark their initials on the rear of the base, I\'ll make a note of any that I\'m told will need a quick Dullcote treatment.

Down on the left boot on the back there is bare metal, is that work to be completed or has it gone unnoticed?

James try this:
Mix one half of a GW standard brush loaded with Scorched brown to a half a teaspoon of water.
Carefully wash this over the slate concentrating on ending your brush strokes where there are ridges and edges on the Slate. Don\'t do more than one coat at a time. Let each coat dry (hairdryer on lowest setting helps) then as the dark areas build up you can see that it looks a little more Natural.
You can then gently and carefully drybrush the slate to pick up the highlights again.

The painted rocks were dark grey then get about four differnt coloured inks, red, blue, green and yellow/brown. use the inks on the rock in a patch work pattern (just slop it on - doesn\'t matter if they run into each other. Once dry give the whole thing VERY thin wash with blue black ink. Then dry brush grey up to the highlight you like.
Of course if you don\'t like the finish of the rocks in that thread DON\'T do anything I just told you!
