On a more serious note. The skin on that Vostroyan looks superb, even my wife\'s complemented you on it.
She\'s stated that the muscle definition is realistic, and as she doesn\'t paint, that is great praise.

The Flag looks great so far but I can see that you\'ve still got a lot of work to do, as have we all.
It looks to me as if you\'ve got one of, if not the hardest mini of the lot. :D

Hey Rob, You\'ve missed a bit. lollollol

so have I, what\'s the gist here Mike?
Sorry to double post, but what do you mean Mick?
Are you asking about the project or my usual sarcasm?

Cheers Mike, and cheers to your wife!!!

would you believe the skin is VMC Brown Sand? Came out nice, didn\'t it! It\'s actually Jaume Ortiz\'s colour for flesh. Highlighted with sunny skintone and shaded with Cadmium maroon........The same mix I used on the Highlander bust in my gallery.

And there is loads to do; trying to work top down...........principally to stop my sweaty fingers removing the paint as I go.

I just did some NNM Steel on his arm holding the banner.........came out nice!! Pictures soon

Jaume\'s Face Painting

well this is where I lifted it. It\'s a 75mm figure he demonstrates on, and I\'ll never reach the subtleness of his blending (he\'ll happily spend 12 hours on a 1/35 scale face); infact, the roughness of the initial laying down of paint to the almost airbrushed effect of the blended piece is staggering.
No idea how he does it; I missed an inpromptue(sp?) demo he gave when we were in Boston last year!! darn........

Thanks for the link Rob.
It\'s something I\'ll have to have a go at on a bust I\'ve got. (Courtesy of Herseycon 2005)

Looking good Orb.

I really must get back to my dude. He has been left by the wayside recently with just his robes done because I have been fiddling about with some Golden Demon ideas.

I got all excited by the link to the skin tutorial, and was going to replicate it on my Vostroyan, then I realised he hasn\'t got any skin showing!

If it ever cools down progress should be swifter. Don\'t worry though, it\'ll probably be done last minute and I\'ll arrive at GD with no sleep, but I never miss deadlines.

Granddad!
Thanks Mike, what with doing the Orion sculpt, as well as having to work on the day, I wont have enough time to join in this year.
Hopefully I\'ll see you guys up there on the day

.....just remembered I\'ve got that skin tute somewhere

Looking good everyone

Ok here\'s my contribution as a WIP.
Picture 1 shows what I\'d managed to get done up till 19:00 Saturday.
Vostroyan1.jpg

And this picture was taken less than 10 minutes ago (1800 Sunday)

Vostroyan2.jpg

I apologise for the quality of the pictures, the battery on my main camera is flat and is taking a devils own time to charge.
All that remains (Like young James\'s) is the base and boots.
I\'m considering doing the base first, then the boots. Less chance for error/accident.
