Grenade Launcher shots are coming on Monday. I have a whole weekend of free time so I figure I can get him done, or at least nearly done if I really go hard at it.

OK I\'ve done a bit more, and I hope I have not messed it up. I thought the grey was too light and gave it a wash of black, shit it was a mistake I\'ve still got to finish the base with grey\'s
Any thoughts on how I can improve it would be gratfully recieved

Mark: I\'ve been looking at him for about 10 minutes and the only thing I would suggest is to bring up a step the hghlights on the brass of the rifle.
Then warm them up with a slight brown toning to the shadows.
Other that that it\'s looking great.

Mark, he\'s looking fine.........I think if you did anything, it would be to add some selective thinned white reflection points in the metals........both steel and brass/gold, jjust to make them pop.

I\'ve finished the SB, and posted him here now in the gallery, and put in in the submissions thread here so stroll on over and have a look

Mark, he is looking excellent unlike the commander which I now think I might have messed up altogether and might even have to re do all the gold NMM on his breast plate and leg grieves :cussing:

Unlike Rob with his Standard bearer who wanted to paint himself this Commander has been nothing but a typical high ranking Officer and has made me work every bit of the way...

In an attempt to try and get teh breast plate and thigh grieves to pop I narrowed the shadows and hightened the amount of white into the mix, trouble is now I think I went to far and I am not sure what I think of it now other than I have gone to far with it

The reds are nearly finished I just have to line in a few more shadow areas and the rest of the gold trim needs to be finished off.

I had a productive couple of days in work whereby I managed to get a bit of painting done as the contractors decided not to work the weekend so I have slipped off home for today and tomorrow

Anyway here are a couple more shots see what you think.

Hi WarGriffon, he is certainly looking great a true officer.
You have maybe gone a little too white on the gold breast plate, I\'m a bit new at all this posh painting, so dont take my advice, await Orb\'s or one of the others to give you pro help.
If it was me I would do a few glazes to darken some spots down again, just leaving the high spots as they are.
I use snakebite leather/white mix, if your using this reciepie, i would maybe add some black to the scorched to get the darker bits back, then lift it back up to whats there already.
At the moment it certainly looks sharp, just a little too white, so dont go doing too much to it.
These vostroyans, when they came out I thought they looked bad, but now as I have done my one and looked in datail at all the others, I think they are really great mini\'s.
Orb\'s is absolutely superb, and Dragonsreach\'s, as will yours be, who ever gets these chaps will have a great looking troop

Thanks Mark, I have been using snakebite (not as a drink :drunk: ) though I also found a great mid tone in between the snakebite and bone mix of colours which is one of the old GW pots I have had for years called Sulphur Desert yellow the old pots are great even after ten years this one is good as new I might just add a bit of that to it and see what happens to take away some of the white.

Mike suggested maybe a beastial/swamp brown as it is slightly orange so we shall have to see what happens and how I feel in the morning I have a few other things I need to sort out plus it will give Rob a chance to make a suggestion or two on what maybe to try.

Great idea War Griffon, with the bestial mix, I use that for bronze type armour and it works for me

Of course he is meant to have stilts whilst he is being painted how else am I surposed to hold onto him without taking all the paint off again before I have finished???

Mark, search for a user called Cyril and check out the Marines in his gallery, otherwise keep the paint very thin and use a very small brush assuming you have used white on the scroll any minor mistakes can be touched up.

It is one of the things I intend to add to the Commander as well.

basically do squiggly lines/or straight lines

and bobs your uncle.
