GW Employees

Well, I have to admit that having dealt with GW US and GW UK employee\'s I can say I haven\'t had an issue with them in either local.

Fanboys on the other hand . . . . . . .

Seems like some of you guys have had some really bad incidents.. I\'ve worked for GW for 4 years, and all I ever wanted was to help people develop their armies, and their painting skills (or even learn something from people that paint better than me..) and of course teach how to play the game...

If a 12 year old came to me and said he wanted to buy that High Elf Dragon up there, I would figure out if he really needed the dragon, not just sell it... Turns out the guy has a general, and a bolt thrower... duh... you don\'t need a dragon! BUT I won\'t protest if he insists on buying it, as in the end it is his choice, and that happens alot too..

So you have your stupid GW employees, and then your stupid Customers...

We are only human, so there are bound to be some people that react a certain way that we don\'t want them to...

Just bear in mind, that not all GW employees are like you guys have found, many of us are not money hungry sales pitching assistants ;) We actually care for the hobby...

This is only significant if it\'s not the case in your non-GW LGS.

I can\'t respond from experience as there is no GW store near me but there are 2 LGSs.

Shop Staff, G.W, Style.

Having had the good fortune to travel the world and experience customer service all round I must say I personally rate G.W. pretty much top of the bunch.I have always found them polite and welcoming and showing interest in what ever the customers into.I realise there is always a rotten egg somewhere, but on the whole they have store staff they can be proud of,well done G.W.If only all shops in the U.K.were as inviting and welcoming! GOD Bless ............VINCENTI;)

All the GW stores I have been to have been friendly, if embarrassingly enthusiatic.

I am good friends with a fellow who worked at a GW retail store for a while, and the way they treat their employees is the real shame. (Mandatory overtime where you are paid in product, not cash.)

I see... still, that sucks. How can overtime be compulsory? Completely out of order... but I suppose if you enjoy playing with the other guys it\'s not so bad...

Again, it\'s only secondhand reporting (and I\'m posting it on the internet... a sure way to gain reliability) but I suppose \"mandatory\" was a little off. From what he said he (and the other hourly employees) were given \"optional\" work, but were also told \"if you\'re really serious about working here, you will do this.\" At the end of the \"optional, but...\" shifts, they were told \"Go pick out $30 worth of product\" as their payment.

There\'s no such thing as product for payment..
Often there are instances where a sort of mandatory overtime occurs...Games day setting off at 10.a.m Saturday night on a coach from Glasgow..But always these instances are paid as overtime..

True there are product\'s given ..exclusives at xmas etc but never is this in replacement of wage..

Even the \"mandatory\" overtime isn\'t such there is always the option to say no..however due to the love of what the job entails this is a rare occurence.

I would guess they pay in product to avoid time and a half. Also If you have an employee whos part time and you pay him in product for overtime, I don\'t belive it changes the employees part time status. Can you W2 a paycheck in product?

But seriously. There is nothing wrong with complaining. This is just another example of people getting tired of all of the BS.

It might be a little too early for me to drink Ebon. It is only noon here.

As far as the local GW store, I would have to say some empoyee\'s are better than others. I went in the other day and had a good experience they guy was helpful and fairly knowledgeable about the GW product line. The time before I was just wanting to sift through some lead and was constantly hounded by this little rat faced clerk. I thought he would get a clue that when I turned my back on him and stopped taking to him, that he would let me look, but no he had to go on and on about this and that, like I realy gave a damn. I ened up having to leave before I finished looking.
