Hey, it was only a \"planet\" due to some clever marketing of the students of the guy who first theorized its existence anyway. He predicted there would be a 9th planet, so when a chunk of ice the size of a large comet was found in the Kuiper belt, his fans said AHA! (even though it wasn\'t actually where the guy predicted it and was much much smaller)

But even if the definition of a planet is one of the more arbitrary things in astronomy, Pluto is so different to the rest of them \'planets\'. Allowing a very non-conformant Pluto to be a planet allows Haley\'s Comet a foot in the door to be a planet too.

There\'s also objects in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter that are about the same size as (if not bigger than) Pluto.
