Try changing tack and attempt to paint with Acrylics in the format of Watercolours. For flat surface painting it makes things so much easier.
As I understand it the bases which were in the games like Heroquest etc.... were originally done with Watercolours on card to get the tonality.
I could practice that from now until doomsday, and still end up with my typical \'drybrush the sand\' looking bases....lol
A lot of people do not think that they can change their painting/drawing habits from what they were originally taught (or not taught) in schools. I\'ve forund that by watching \"Miami Ink\" and seing how the tattoo artists do their pre-work drawings that there is a noticable similarity between their styles and the painting we do. So much so that by following some of the examples Chris Garver showed I have been able to improve my own Pencil drawings. (They are still not that good however but far better than I used to draw.)
