Ilyad done?

Frenchkid, ol\' buddy

I wasn\'t trying to be a dick or anything, just trying to figure out why a company wouldn\'t want to sell their product globally. From earlier posts, it almost seemed they were angry when non-French wanted their products, hence my use of the confusion ??? smiley. I understand your explanation, but if that was their spin on it then it doesn\'t hold water. With E-bay, millions of people have learned how to ship inernationally. I\'ve done so myself numerous times.

So why couldn\'t a professional company learn how to ship stuff? They had six employees and none of them got the hang of that \'mailing\' thing? You were most definately correct in pointing out there was some sort of miss-management at the top.

This is a good example of good people trying to do something they love... but they don\'t know jack shit about running a business. Tiss a shame, really.

Eh Eh
I know you didn\'t mean anything by your coment, and I was actually thinking of some of the very far out explanations that I had heard before.
And the probleme wasn\'t with shipping but with production from what I gathered. Not to mention that taking care of distributors and requests from other countries takes a lot more time and might require an extra employee. I think they just had reached a size to big to afford to live on without a game but to small to set up a real export to other countries.

This is sad indeed, I have just recieved some minis from GQ and I think now I wil get a few more as these were one of the best mini ranges ever IMO.

I heard this on the FOD and on Frothers too. Someone on Frothers mentioned a store in Nantes, France, \"Le Temple du Jeu\"
http://www.letempledujeu.fr

Their webstore doesn\'t like orders to the USA, but through email contact with Olivier at the place, I found just about all of the Ilyad I wanted! Great customer service, considering I don\'t speak a lick of French (My babelfished emails were readable - yay!)!

Olivier had mentioned several tidbits regarding Ilyad\'s fate, and hopefully future:
\"...The Vorag barbarians are very beautiful : I think the two sculptors are
at the top of their art.
The last news I had from them are very good : they are now working for
Asmodee Edition (http://www.asmodee-us.com/), and will develop the
miniatures for the game Helldorado.\"

and...:
\"...Yes, absolutely, they have just been out of business in the last month.
They are from Nantes like us, but in fact we didn\'t see the boss since
last november 2005... We have kept contact with the two sculptors
(Thomas David and Jacques-Alexandre Gillois).\"

Not much, but something....

Just wanted to say thanks for the kind comments re GQ - we had a great time when we owned the business - and yep Ilyad were very hard to stock - but we managed it - darn shame they seem to have self combusted - stunning minis - lets hope some else picks up the range - I know way back Fenryll were interested

Take care all
