Ilyad Games

Yes, it IS peanut butter, it makes a wonderful temporary base. lol

They come with little prongs (pins) on the feet, instead of slots. The bases that come with them do not have holes already so you can drill your own and position them however you want. To me this is an excellent solution, since I rarely use stock bases. The girl toward the back has wings that I haven\'t attached, and she came already mounted. The two larger figures also came pre-based. I will try to get a better shot of the entire set later, but I\'m home from lunch now and the wife wants to kill me for going on the computer.

Wife: \"You\'re sick, ya\' know that? You spend all of your time on that thing...\"

(can\'t really argue with her when she\'s right) ;):D

Not all of them come with little \'prongs\' as a couple of mine have these big square ... bases I guess is what you would call them that you fit into another recessed black base. None to thrilled about that actually as I like to base my miniatures differently and that\'s going to cause a bit of a problem.

Nice miniatures though - Cedric got me some a bit back and I\'ve been working on them slowly here and there.

As for size ... I got the fire priest (can\'t remember real name) and it measures 33mm at the top of his head (hands and flames above his head, which probably messure ... 38-39 all total, as a guess).

More comparisons

This is a pic of the complete Tsunami set (the white pieces) next to minis from other manufacturers.

Compare2.jpg

I tried my best to focus them all in, but unfortunately the camera was being very uncooperative. All of the minis have as much detail as the Ogre, so don\'t judge them by my crummy photography skills.

There are three ogres in the background; a Reaper, the Ilyad/Fenryll one, and an old-school GW. That is a reaper Exalted in the pink, a Warmachine banethrall in the back left, and an unpainted Darksword/Elmore figure over on the right. The 54mm Ilyad is on the far right, and the bases that came with them are down front. That weird looking thing in the middle is a Jack-O-Lantern Nurse, You can see a finished version in Shaz\'s Gallery here. It seems Fenryll has an entire line of these pumpkin people... don\'t ask me why...

Just so you know, none of the minis on your pictures are from Ilyad Games ;). They (the one you show us) are indeed distributed by Fenryll and made by a bunch of different sculptors sometimes before the project was initiated, so the scale isn\'t really consistent from one to the other. Bottom line is: Fenryll and Ilyad aren\'t the same at all

As for the Ilyad minis, they are about the same size as GW/Rackham, if anything a little bit larger, but that might be due to the badass armors they wear. They are made of a really nice quality resin and are a pleasure to work on. And still on the comparison side, they are way more finely detailled than Rackham\'s (really the level is very high).

They come a little bit more than occasionally with bubbles in the material. I have 25-30 of them, none without a few tiny holes from bubbles in the molding process. On the bright side, those flaws are very easy to get rid of, and the mold lines are rare and even easier to clean.

Shipping costs aren\'t cheap, but the minis are worth at least a try :)

humm funny never noticed that the price was that high.
As for gorgoth bey I don\'t think he\'s going to do any good for scale comparaison, he\'s suposed to be a giant. WOuldn\'t check GW\'s 28mm with a giant would you :p

I edited ;)
I gladly admit that in my memory the prices were higher... Dang, I look like a fool now, don\'t I? :D

As for shipping, I don\'t know about the uk distributor you guys mentioned, but I found starplayer\'s costs to NC fairly reasonnable.

Well, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me! lol

Since this was my first experience with resin models I had assumed they were the same across their entire line.

So, if you look back at my first super-blurry pic then most Fenryll are about the size of that Reaper Warlord mini? He is 40mm, NOT including the base and cowl!

And not just the size seems inconsistant with what is being said about my set. I found the casts were PERFECT, without one single hole or blemish in the resin on ANY of the figs, and the flashing was ATROCIOUS! just about evrything had flashing, much more so then any metal model I have ever worked on. Cleaning time could run you a 1/2 hour per fig! But I heard this was normal for resin. I have nothing to compare it to because I\'ve never worked with plastic minis either.

I don\'t see the size being a big problem, I have Ral Partha barbarians that come up to the waist on a Rackham Fianna, so there is already huge scale differences in the industry.

That\'s very true. That\'s even true within a range since Rackham reduced the scale of its minis. Not too smart imo, now you get minis from one army dwarved by same references released a couple of years earlier...

As for scale comparison, I\'ll take a few pictures later tonight with a bunch of Ilyad, Privateer ad Rackham minis.

As much as I love Privateer Press minis, there line is probably the WORST offender of the out-of-scale problem. They actually re-did their Denegra mini because her TWIN sister towered over her. My bile-thralls must of been made from dead dwarfs, and the banethralls are as big as the \'jacks\'. If both are undead humans, why is one TWICE the size of the other? ???

Don\'t get me wrong, they\'re still waaaay cool. :D

From left to right: satyxis and Goreshade (PP) - air elemental and warrior whose name I forgot (Ilyad) - master of words Sebekhi (crocodile games) - Wismerhill and Emperor (Ilyad) - Yshaelle and Mirvilis (Rackham)
scaleComparison1.jpg

L to R: Black ork, air elemental and warrior (Ilyad) - Wolfen hunter (Rackham) - earth elemental (Ilyad) - Leviathan warjack (PP)
scaleComparison2.jpg

So yeah, scale is larger for Ilyad.
