Hopefully I\'ll be able to get a good chunk of work done on these figs this weekend, a couple of the guys are getting together to do some gaming/painting on Saturday... I\'m much more inclined to paint than play 40k or anything right now.

@Vincenti: Hopefully I won\'t keep you waiting too long! God bless you too, buddy :innocent:

This is coming together to be a superb looking mini. Everything works perfectly together. The painting is looking lovely and crisp too. I like that his Crozius isn\'t beefy and over the top. Could you not snip off an Iron Halo to mount on the top of it to finish it off properly though?

The smallest Iron Halo I can find is almost as wide as the wings on the crozius. It would look about twice the size of the one in the picture... I\'ve tried to make one in plasticard but it\'s way too hard for me :D The three or four I\'ve made are all crooked or lopsided, and I know for a fact I can\'t greenstuff anything that detailed yet. I\'m still a relative beginner with greenstuff, I\'ve never even sculpted fur before lol I\'m usually pretty confident with the greenstuff but this is exactly the kind of thing I know I can\'t do yet.

If I can come up with something, I\'ll glue it on before I paint the crozius. I plan on doing it near last for that very reason.

for the crozius iron halo have you tried the part that comes with the (relativley) new terminator chaplain? its quite diddy and can be ordered as a component along with some scrolls.

I have one, and I\'m using it for the Master\'s halo. It\'s still the same size as all the other ones, anyway. The only thing I could think of that would\'ve been close to the right size is the Ork shoota gunsight... but the spikes are on the inside of the circle not the outside.

Maybe one of my Inquisitor icons can work, if I carve the crap out of it...

Dark angel secretions??? (what dark things do angels secrete)lol
This chaplin looks great, but most impressive is the wonderful way you\'re building up your colours, lots of tones in there that make them look really rich. Good job.
Does the limited addittion master come with an alternative head, like the one in the blisters?

Really really nice work. The way you have handled the robes on all you DAs is amazing, they look really smooth and flowing. The whole thing is really clean, and like Lono said, just works well together :) Looking forward to seeing this guy finished - I\'m very impressed so far!

I dont know if this would help or not but as far as the problem with your halo but is it something that you could run some really hot water till the plastic gets some and kind of reshape it a little? I dont if it would help or not but worth a shot.

That\'s not a bad idea. I\'ve tried this for shaping plasticard before, but I\'m not so sure how it would work with GW plastics, it may just obliterate the detail. It might be worth an experiment if you have a spare Ork gun sight laying around to try dunking it in boiling water and turning it inside out.

@hubbabubba: the lmtd master is 3 peices, body halo and backpack.

@lono: gw plastic doesnt bend very well. a friend of mine was making chaos warriors with lizardmen tails and tried the hot water and bend thing and it didnt work very well. it may work better in something smaller though.

This thing is really thin and small, I\'m just worried it would rip in half if I tried. And of course I have no idea if I\'ve got any lying around from my Ork experiment from like 7 years ago :p

So the regular edition Master has variant heads eh? I\'ve only seen the one with the big feathery helmet. Personally I\'d probably use the plastic bitz that come on the Veteran sprue, the feathers on the metal one don\'t look as well sculpted as the 2nd edition model it\'s a copy of.

@jericho: That chaplain is looking awsome m8, why dont you just remove the \"spikes\" on the inside of the gunsight and add new ones on the outside?..just carefully use the tip of your knife or a round file...think that will work out better then trying to bend it :)

lol, i use dark angel veterans to represent my sword brethen, but I can\'t do that any more. After seeing these pics I promptly binned mine and started a pre heresy world eater army.::(

Don\'t get discouraged! That\'s exactly the opposite of what I want to accomplish with threads like this :)

Anyway I haven\'t done any more work on the Master yet, I\'m not sure how I want to paint the guns for the army (do them silver/grey like in the art or super dark red like I originally planned) so I figure I\'ll just do some work on the Chaplain until I get to the point where I can work on them both at the same time.

I\'m also repainting the bases, I liked the colors of my Tau bases better and will be borrowing the colors. Basically the ground will be a flatter grey, and the rubble will be more greenish-brown. The bases without all the rubble will look a lot better in this scheme I think.

Hey Dan, did you try the iron halo from the servo skull in the devastator box? It looks like it may be a more appopriate size for the crozius.
