Reaper does have this heafty nun, Mother Superior. Actually I think they have 2 now.

Yeah, I\'d like to see some lower level PC types. Or more fighter types in leather or studded leather armor. Maybe some with weapons other than swords and shields. (Like a pick and a battle ax!)

And maybe some better Diablo and Diablo 2 miniatures. Buffy, Spike, and Angel. Xena and Aries. Chernabog and his undead minions.....

Since we are on the topic of cheesy (back then they were extremely cool for us nerds, admit it you are all nerds and me too :flip: ) shows like BSG, why not Red Dwarf and movies like Flash Gordon, \"the black hole\" and other 80\'s star wars lookalike-contest-winners :idea:

Anyone remember Quark? My brothers and I seem to be the only folks on the planet who saw that show. Garbage truck in space. I remember it being very funny.

Buck Rogers. There is a BR board game that came with tons of figures, but I think they were mainly the fighter ships with maybe Gil Gerard and Erin Gray (man was she hot) out of scale. Ooh, and I wanna see Hawk and a whole race of hawk people. That guy was cool!

Oh, and about Starbucks:
Since they have a mermaid as their logo I think it far more likely they were named for the first mate in Moby-Dick who was probably the source of the name in BSG.

Some very finely crafted original and movie Trek figures of small scale would be cool. I used to have model kits of the Vipers and the Starfighter thing from Buck Rogers and though I think Erin Grey was sexy, I dunno how much I would like a mini from that show. Cylons would be way cooler! Of course, they would rekindle the HUGE wave of chrome painted NMM....
I saw some OOP GROO figs on here, and I think a new batch would be really cool. Or maybe some Tintin or Asterix....
Funny, I think doing Tinitin and Captain Haddock would be fun

It\'s kind of like reading Terry Brooks\' version of the Lord of the Rings. I made it half way through that Sword of Shannara book too, before I quite since I already knew the storyline

The entire modern concepts of time travel in a war and the desperate battles against machine that want to kill us all and even the use of cyborgs to do it sneaky like,was all done in these books.....Fred put a totally original twist to robots in war,and he was the best and the first to my knowledge to do it.

The producers of BSG openly said that they wanted to pat homage to the Berzerkers with their TV show,I remember reading an enterview with the producers in Heavy Metal mag way way way back....the thing even had a pic of the Berzerker Wars novel in the artical....with pics from BRG like the cylon costumes.

But seriously....I don`t mean to sound to damn crazy here....but when you look at Arnold chaseing Sarrah Conner,think of \"Brother Assasin\"....one of the many Fred Death Machines Books....If you even think that you like robot stories YOU MUST read his series....

The Berzerkers saga is to robot sci-fi what Brian Lumlies \"The Necroscope\" was to dark gothic vampires....or what \"Star Wars\" was to cowboy space operas...seriously it is so good!And I see fFreds influence in so many more modern works...

Well, if you\'ve played starquest, you know \"heroquest\" in space, with marines and necrons and the like (ah... those GW and MB collaborations). There was a chaos dreadnought in the game who looked exactly like ED209 with all kinds of diff. weapons to attach to his shoulders. It was kinda weird looking for a chaos dreadnought, but was really cool in the game...

MINIs that I wish

I wish there were more \'accesories\'.

I mean just normal every day stuff from the fantasy world. Barrels, tables, chairs, bookshelves, logs, carts, vases, etc. etc.

I have seen some of this stuff, but not the variety I\'d like.

BTW, I remember Erin Grey from Buck Rogers very fondly. Those white jump suits were very nice indeed!!

You\'ve gotten me curious about these books. However, all I read online says that the Berserkers are planetoid sized machines. Is there more in the book so that you have humanoid robots?

Now on the issue of originality, machines whose only purpose is to kill all life is an ancient concept (golum). Saberhagen\'s first Berserker book came out during the first season of Star Trek so it\'s hard to say they got their \"doomsday\" machine from him - though to be fair the first berserker story published in 1963.

Now, being a fan of early Sci-Fi, (including Cyrano De Bergerac and Mary Shelly) I must say that 1963 is not really that early. As to humanoid chrome killer robots I point you to Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still - originally scripted 1951.

Still, I\'m interested enough I may read them. The reviews of the early stuff are all good. The second book was in the 70s then the next from the 80s so most of his stuff is hardly new at all, and the reviews for the latest stuff are bad across the board.

Hay vince....me so happy to see that my rants have gotten you into this,Like I said lil buddy,the modern sci-fi we see in the 70`s and 80`s and even the 90`s is all very much inspired by the Berserkers stories.

Your not getting the real deal on a web search of this stuff,there where a few books done in the 60`s \"The Berserker Wars\" & \"Brother Assassin\" to name 2 of the best....imho.

TBW`s was a series of very very cool short stories,while BA`s was a full lenght novel.This book was published in 1969 and if you know the Terminator movie,then you have seen a very very basic wartered down version of \"Brother Assassin\".

I won`t go wild but since you asked,I`ll say this about the Zerkers.

The Machine race was built by an alien empire in another galaxy,for a galactic war when earth was a lump of hot rock.

The actuale berserkers are intellegent armoured and armed to the teeth robots as large as a planent,and they have millions of sub machines built in hundreds of factories deep within the main planent sized space-robot ships body.

The servents of the Berserker can be anything really...depending on the needs of the master machine,The Electric Brain\" of the metal planent.

The idea is that they can do what ever they need to do to kill kill kill...bio life,or as the human armies are reffered to \"Bad Life\"...\"Good Lfe\" will cooperate with the machine,and as a reward they are the last to be terminated...lol!

LOL.....\"The desposal units ran night and day,we where that close to going out forever..but there was one man that tuaght us to fight,to storm the wire of the camps,to smash those metal MF`rs into junk! he turned it around,his name was conner,Jhon Conner\" Ress....lol...the fun thing is that the main hero in The Berserkers original series was a guy named Jhon also...lol!

The Berserkers where abel to build full armies,with combat robots as large as aircraft carriers decked out with terminator like humanoid fighters,and smaller attack fighter machines,ect...to spies as small as a bug.

Well I won`t go on,just trust me dog....If you like robots and serious and scary and sometimes funny sci -fi read a Saberhagan Zerkers book!

Their is a lot in them that you will think he stole from other sci-fi...till you look at the dates of the books first publishings,then you will see just how huge this guys influence is on modern sci-fi....well time traveling death robots and human heroes ect,yep Issace Asimove and Halien Ellison did it to,but Fred was first,to do it on the scale he did with the series,and his is he most original and exciteing!

Anyone like to see a figure of a 12 foot tall metal man like killing machine with lasers on it`s shoulders and serrated razors on it`s arms,with all the detailes of a terminator plus some,with out the skin,but with more armour and a crazy multi sensore arrayed haed?How about a human warrior pioleting a giant gorrial-man like machine with a big bubble head on top,(so don`t picture a stupid monkey...picture a broad powerful looking humanoid shaped battle suite with a big azz riffle and space suit helment)decked out in armour and weapons...lol!

I have though about it and I think know that to bring this back to minis,I`m going to seek out some official premission to do a few figures from the better stories,as original sculptures,and if not...well I`ll have to do a dio or 3 just for me.

Supervike, I agree. I like the treasures and accessories that Reaper has, but we need more. I like to make whole scenes with my minis. They look much better standing next to a fence than next to a humongous pair of wire cutters. Or next to a computer speaker, which seems to be the heute decor of many a mini on this site.

This is a bit off topic, but you seem to have read a good deal of Sci-Fi. Have you ever read \"An Alien Heat?\" I was incredibly surprised with how much I liked the book. Unfortunately it was the first part in what was to be a series, and I\'ve never found any sequels.

One of the interesting things about this story was people had learned to change their shape, through the help of technology, so many people didn\'t look at all like people. One guy frequently walked around in the form of an ape. One guy took the shape of a large monster who stood about 10 feet tall.

That and they were always changing their color. So it wouldn\'t matter how you painted their minis, it was likely to be right at some point in the book.

Don\'t know why I didn\'t think of this before.
The whole band of them in fairly accurate renditions from the film. I suppose you could create these out of some existing line of tutonic knights, but I\'d like to see unhelmeted versions that look like Idol, Gillium etc. Oh, and a giant trojan rabbit!

I\'ve always been a fan of bishounens or pretty boys from Japanese animation. I\'ve been extremely disapointed that the resin kits out in the market are only for naked and pretty girls. And the same goes for miniatures. Too many pretty babes with swords and the like.

Of once, I\'d like to see more pretty men and male elves. The only ones that comes close are W. Klocke\'s elves. But that\'s what? Only 4 or 5 in the market?

I understand that the majority of mini painters are male, but perhaps times are changing and us female gamers would love to see more pretty boys to glare, drool, and paint over as well?

After all, more female gamers are now playing. 3rd Ed finally broke out the stereotypes of female fighters wearing bikini breastplates. Can\'t there be more mini\'s for females to stare at as well?

Hey, sex sells, and that goes for females too. Though when I say pretty male mini\'s, I don\'t mean naked guys with swords of course. (I don\'t want to give Assasin or ShadowForge any ideas.)


You know, characters like Vampire Hunter D (which was mentioned before), Vega from Street Figher, Sol or Ky from Guilty Gear. You know the types.

And god enough with the Fabio steryotypes. Who actually finds that interesting, like that one Foundry elf with his shirt open? Yuck...

You may or may not know that there are large scale models out there based on all of these old movies. One of my favorites is one called \"Abduction\" based on Dr Caligari. (picture if u are interestedhere)
