Interesting Co-incidence

The man in question only made 5 movies, all successful. He was engaged to be married to Meryl Streep. He is one of the 14 actors who have appeared in 3 Best Picture Oscars.

You know him as \"Fredo\".
John Cazale.

Godfather
Godfather II
Deer Hunter
The Conversation
Dog Day Afternoon

Excellent question.

Pardon my French but holy shit! Thats amazing.

This duo of brothers wrote a highly acclaimed film that was released in 2000 together based on the theme of short term memory loss. One of the brothers is considered one of the best young directors in Holywood today.

Name the brothers and the movie.

This is how they died....

Gin.

You kicked ass....

Redford actually dies a lot.
He is shot in \"Butch Cassidy...\"
He is shot in \"The Great Gatsby\"
He is shot in \"The Last Castle\"
He is shot in \"Up Close & Personal\"
I think a plane crash gets him in \"Out of Africa\"

When I think of Nicholson dying, I always think of \" One Flew Over the Cuckoo\'s Nest\"

For Brad Pitt, you could pick \"Meet Joe Black\", \"The Devil\'s Own\", \"Troy\", \"Interview with the Vampire\" or \"Legends of the Fall\".

Meryl Streep commits suicide in \"Sophie\'s Choice\". She also dies off camera of old age, I guess, in \"Bridges of Madison County\".

Costner also buys it in \"Perfect World\".
Stupid movie....

\"No actor has appeared in more than 3 movies which have won Oscar for Best Picture. This is actually rather surprising. There are 14 in total, with a new one joining the group this year. Name any 5.\"

Last one from the original Quiz

If a movie gets one point for every acting Oscar in the cast, the highest total to date
would be 9. ( Count every Oscar for every actor / actress even if they received it after the movie came out. For example,
\"Guess Who\'s Coming to Dinner ?\" gets a total of 7 for Hepburn <4>, Tracy <2> and Poitier <1> ). Name any 3 movies with a total of 8 or higher....

There are only 2 movies with a 9. One makes sense. The other is wierd.

Heartburn - Nicholson (3), Streep (2), Spacey (2), Maureen Stapleton, Mercedes Ruehl
The Swarm (!!!!) - Michael Caine (2), Henry Fonda, Olivia De Havilland (2), Ben Johnson, Lee Grant, Jose Ferrer, Patty Duke

There are a fair number with 8
I am not going to list all the actors now....
Trust me.

Bad Day at Black Rock
A Bridge Too Far
Death on The Nile
The Greatest Story Ever Told
Julia
Murder on the Orient Express
Philadelphia
The Sea of Grass

BTW..every year the numbers go up after the Oscars, obviously.

\"Outbreak\" (Morgan Freeman ) went from a pedigree of 5 to 6.

\"The Shipping News\" ( Cate Blanchett ) went from a 3 to a 4.

Not a big year...some years are big....

Gin....about Redford...

I can recommend a few Redford flicks.

If you are all about horror, you are SOOL.
Homey don\'t play dat....

My favorites:

1) The Sting ( an American Classic )
2) The Natural ( helps if you like baseball / sports )
3) Sneakers ( This is a fun movie )
4) The Great Waldo Pepper
5) Three Days of the Condor
6) Horse Whisper ( slow pace, but rewarding )
7) Jeremiah Johnson
8) All the President\'s Men
9) Up Close and Personal ( good chem with Pfeiffer )
10) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Avoid these, IMHO...

1) The Way We Bore...uh...Were
2) The Great Gatsby ( Mia Farrow is a mess)
3) Havana
4) Indecent Proposal

Never saw \"The Hot Rock\".
Does anybody know if it\'s any good ?

If you like colors...who here doesn\'t...try this

Movies with colors in the titles...

Just for fun and to cross pollenate to the topic of figure painting...

Substitute your favorite painting color
picking up from either the color name or one of the descriptive words.

Any paint goes...GW, Reaper, Vallejo...

How Dark Angels Green Was My Valley

The Man in the Codex Grey Flannel Suit

Hudson Hawk Turquoise

Blazing Orange Saddles

Tentacle Pink Cadillac

Pushing Tin Bitz

You\'ve Got Chainmail

CF,

That one was good also!
I love the movie trivia this has been great!
Keep it up:)
Gin

*The \'Flat\' Green Mile

Christopher Nolan is one...

FVC,

Christopher Nolan co-wrote \"Memento\"
Don\'t know his brother\'s name....

Very interesting event coming up....

\"Batman Begins\" is directed by Christopher Nolan. Can\'t wait to see this !

I liked \"Spy Game\"....

It just missed my top ten for Redford.

Jack Nicholson won a Supporting Oscar for his role in \"Terms of Endearment\". The role was originally offered to another actor who turned it down. I believe the movie would never have won the Oscar if this actor had taken the role...

Who was it ?

Just to show the type of movie\'s I like:
The Man in the Skull White Suit. (Sir Alec Guinness)

I think I got all those deaths right that I said (Someone identified the Travolta movie I mentioned as \"broken arrow\")
Last night another one occurred to me:
George Clooney - though I never actually saw the film, I assume he dies in \"Perfect Storm\" since it\'s based on a true story of a ship lost at sea.

So some of those actors died several times - nicholson for example:
Easy Rider
Batman
The Shining
One Flew Over the Cukoo\'s Nest
And probably a few of his early horror flicks like \"the Horror\" or \"the Raven\" or possibly \"Rebel Rousers\" though I haven\'t seen any of those (well, I saw the Raven when I was about 8 but don\'t remember him in it).

Yup No Oscar therelol

Vince,

It was \"Broken Arrow\". Interesting story..
Travolta was supposed to play the hero and Christian Slater the villain. Thye were horsing around on set, doing role reversal.
John Woo saw it and filmed one day\'s work with the roles reveresed. Liked and swapped the roles.

George drowns in \"Perfect Storm\".

I didn\'t carefully choose any that had only died once. Too tough and I haven\'t seen everybody\'s movies.

I can\'t think of a major actor or actress off the top of my head that hasn\'t died in something....

Angelina Jolie purchase the farm at all ?

How about Nicole Kidman ?

Nicole....duh...Moulin Rouge

Thought of another but revealing it is a true spoiler for anyone who hasn\'t seen the movie.

Does anybody know if she dies in \"Alexander\" ?
