My "comeback" miniature

Hey all

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted on a miniature site, about 7 years to be more precise. I won't bore you with the details, but life and developing RSI in my left shoulder prevented me from painting for a spell. I decided to give it go again and see how it goes.

Here is a pic of my "comeback" miniature, Vercingetorix by Andrea. I have had him sitting around for years knowing if I did get back to painting he would be the first to get a lick of paint.

The face is more or less finished, just some minor touch ups left.

Comment if you wish. Sorry about the picture quality, I don't have a dedicated photo area set up yet.

Keep smiling :)

Welcome back to figure painting! That's a neat sculpt and it's nice to see another person doing 54mm historical figures. The face looks good, I'll be keeping an eye on this project to see how the rest develops.

Thanks for the wb :) I have always been interested in historicals, but this is the first time I took the plunge into 54mm. The realism of it always intimidated me, but I think I have the skills now not to make too much of a hash of it. And if not I will just have to develop them ;)

I have the rest of the skin almost all finished up, if all goes tickedy boo I can post an update tomorrow.

Here is a quick update for those interested. I managed to get the left half of the torso done today, next up the left arm and right torso. Again, sorry for the picture quality, I think I will take tomorrow and set up a proper photo booth.

Thanks Epic. This guy seems to be reawakening the passion for minis I had once upon a time. Dreams of pewter and paint are filling my head lol.

A reawakened passion -- this will definitely be a thread to follow! ;D It's a lovely sculpt indeed, as is the paintwork. I get the impression that many of us will be glad to witness this unfold =]

Thanks :)

I finally got a half decent photo area set up, not the greatest but it will do until I can build myself a new setup in the spring.

Here is the update for today, torso and left arm finished, I will probably give them another pass near the end of the mini to do some more embellishments like tattoos and deepening the tones in shaded areas.

The skin is looking very nice there, I'd be tempted to push the contrast a bit but that's me.
