Wow, thats simply brilliant!
maybe you could combine the two ideas:
like he`s walking across lava and the powers of chaos make a solid path for him in the lava? Something like these regular-shaped basalt stones you can see at \"the giants causeway\"?

QJSBLJALKN!! There\'s a hair on his foot!!! In all seriousness though, NICE job. I really love the nmm and the cloak. What you\'ve done with the hair makes it look so much better.

Cheers folks :)

This project sort of got set aside because of deadlines with commissions and final exams for school. I do plan on working on him a bit today, and once finals are over finishing him. Should be done by the end of the year! :D

My method of blending is hard to explain. It\'s sort of like a very fast feathering/\"scrubbing\" kind of stroke with thinned paint. Sometimes I use wet-blending. It all depends on the colors I\'m using, how large the surface is, if I am edge-highlighting or not, etc...

The cloak was painted with:

basecoat of Scorched+Chaos Black mix,
blended up to P3 Sanguine Base
blended to Red Gore on the edges
then nearly up to P3 Trollblood Highlight. This looks a little pink, so keep it on the sharpest edges of the cloak.

Finally a very very thin glaze of Blood Red

Have a bit of an update here. Finished up the gold on his legs. I went with a simple freehand trim on the tabard. Might do something similar to the front side of it. For some reason the freehand on the back side came out rather wacky, I think it has something to do with a cast shadow from my lamps. Doesn\'t look like that IRL. :)

And yes that hair is still there under his foot! I forgot to scrape it off lol

Thank you all for following this :)

great work.

the reflection on the armour is really amazing.

so is the gold-NMM, although the silver doesn\'t catch the eye as much.....

the face is superb as well.

please keep going.

I love your style of painting this model very much. You actually went in depth of understanding the story of the character 1st before painting it. From there you bring the model to life. Great job!!! Can\'t wait to see the finished work. :drunk:

Magnificent painting. I think that this is the best mini to come out of GW since Saint Celestine. I\'m going to have to buy one now!

Thanks guys :) I\'m looking forward to spending some more time painting this weekend.

The skin was painted with a Scorched Brown/Chaos Black mix, a Bestial Brown/Dwarf Flesh mix, Elf Flesh, and Skull White. Then I glazed a red/liche purple mix around his eyes.

Cheers,

-Matt
