I like NNM because there were times when I was using metalics that I could not get the effect that I wanted i.e. not enough definition because of small parts (hence mini painting). If some people like to paint with metalics let them. I do what I like!

Personally i think drybrushing is good when starting to learn how to paint but i think you kind of shy away from it and prefer other methods when you get more cofident with paint. Not that i have totally abbandoned drybrushing all together but i use it less and less. Some things are better off drybrushed but not many. Damn, i remember when a mate of mine showed me how to drybrush and i just drybrushed everything :) them were the days. Chalky city ;)

Aside from fur, drybrushing is useful for picking out detail on darker miniatures before the highlighting stage. Sometimes if I have a darker coloured miniature with a really intricate pattern, I\'ll drybrush a slightly lighter colour onto it, so I can pick out the pattern more easily with the highlight layers.

Anybody every drybrush on canvas here? I know I have ... but then again, I\'ve done a whole lot of things I\'m not proud of on canvas.

I\'ve read the article.Joe Sleboda is a decent enough painter, but I absolutely hate some of his color choices. Obviously he won some daemons, but overall I thought the tone of the article was pretty close minded and pointless.???

I found that drybrushing is just not my technique. Don\'t know, my paints are always too thin or my brushes too wet and the result always looks like I drybrushed light grey over black. Which is why I seldomly use it. But when there\'s a rock to paint, there\'s no escape and I have to rely on my mediocre drybrushing skills.

So no one can tell me drybrushing is just for beginners, there\'s a huge difference between drybrushing well and just drybrushing.
