Guys, I think you must keep in mind that the vast majority of the users haven\'t taken part in previous discussions on this subject and many don\'t even care that much of the voting system but just want to show their work.
I think this thread and the treatment of ElJacho in the previous thread calls for that people must put a little more thought into their replies and give people the benefit of the doubt in matters concerning these issues of the site (I\'m not without guilt). Imagine yourself in Jimmys position, being officially blasted for something that he didn\'t even know was a problem! Nobody\'s told him it before and he had to learn it this way? How many users know that the rating is based on the 5 highest scoring miniatures, how many cares? I think sending a polite inquiry through the PM\'s is a much better way of confronting the problem of multiple postings then public shaming... at least as a first step.
We moderators cannot link different submissions. There is little we can do other then either approve/reject/delete.
The forums and gallery portions of the site, may need some more interconnection, to make things learned from the forums for the administration/mods to improve the gallery area so that people know what is going on.
As has been said by many the description on how to vote isn\'t all that helpful as many don\'t know what that line really means.
\"Voting Guide: Pretend you\'re a Golden Demon judge. Painting skill, imagination and style are key!
10 is amazing, 8 is a great job, 5 is tabletop quality.\"
For those never going to a GD, then that line really means nothing except drawing lines to where you should vote. Is that really the scale for GDs?
So placing something in the rules section that just reminds people of a few things when posting should prevent accidents in the future. Of course, people abusing the system will always be there, but the actual accidents could be toned down as this one seems to be an accident or misunderstanding of this site, as MANY people use CMoN in many different ways from, trying to inflate their scores for whatever reason, for free unlimited bandwidth image hosting, for stores etc.
I also thought mods could update the images of images rather than having to go through deleting and reuploading it? ???
So after a decade the site has gained so many people, it may need a little work to tailor it back into a working site with ideas and info on how to upload images for ranking and not.
Heck add an option for users and mods to disable ranking on certain minis and to skip them when the ranking is done, or even disable voting on minis. Then those people not wanting to be part of that little portion can still show off and discus minis without causing problems.
Just some ideas thrown out, while bored waiting for plaster to dry.
