No GW blisters in stores...

I\'m pissed!! I\'ve just started an orc army, orcs and goblins have very much blisters that is necesary to make an complete army. I also think that it is a mistake to remove the blisters, and I don\'t think they are relesing so many new models... I think they should lower their prices on old models. I was at my local retailer store yesturday, and the old version of the giant cost as much as the new one. it is insane! why would anyone bye the old giant if there is a new one for the same price?!? and it would be more effective if the removed the so called fit packs. no one buy them and you as much as no choice with them, they come as good as assambled already. :flame:
anyway, I think this is a really stupid decision by GW

that was my oppinion,

As was said earlier on, GW has done this many times before.

They remove blister packs to make room for the new stuff thats getting released, simple as that.

Also the whole 2 weeks for Mail order is rubbish, I get my stuff in a few days when I mail order, ok sometimes I dont get the right stuff but its always quick lol

Even if you mail order in shop, you get it with the shop delivery which comes every thursday.

Also some shops have a BIG store room, ask the guys at the counter maybe the blister you need when not on view could be hidding away there :)

metal units will be getting put into boxes, just like the eldar aspects.

if you want a couple more you then order them from mail order at the store.

great idea yes, no, they are charging more for the miniatures, and in the uk you have to pay extra for it to be delivered to the store.

it\'s a bad move imo, with crappy excuses to back it up.

the only good reason they have given that i agree with, is that boxed reiments take up less space than blisters.

Old News

My two local shops have been fazing out blisters since the summer of 2005. They haven\'t been restocking, and they actually put most of their existing blister stock on clearance. They can get me whatever I want though in about a week.

The reason for this was to make room for all the new minis from rackham and PP, amongst others. So removing GW blisters from the stores made them more profitable. From what I understand this is a growing trend, so some GW analysts probably took a look at the competitors stores and figured this would work for them too.

One problem... they don\'t carry anyone else\'s minis! So whatever moron thought that removing GW products from GW stores would increase profits should be strung up.

Maybe, they\'ll get REALLY greedy, and pull ALL of their products off the shelves. They won\'t have to pay employees... Hell! They won\'t need to rent stores! Just think of all that money they\'ll save!

Pure Genius.

Another problem with not having the blisters to look at is that you canot see the quality of the casts, I like to look through a and pick a decent cast, the quality of a cast varies a great deal. I don\'t want to have to order something and then find it is a shitty casting and then have to piss about getting it changed via mail order.
Plus they will make more on the minis with their postage cost.
Also I went to gWHQ on Sunday, that is a good place to go for mail order items as they will get them for you there and then if they are in stock (or at least they used to).
Now on a Sunday if you want a mail order item they have to send it out to you as the don\'t have piuckers on a Sunday anymore.
I am still waiting for my order to arrive.
Next time I will have to go midweek which is not always practical.

Errr, yeah, I\'ll echo what a few others have said and ask exactly what is the issue here?

They are gradually removing blisters that barely anyone buys, to make more room for more popular product, and you can still get the other stuff anyhow. I can\'t exactly figure out how this is a bad thing in any way.

Perhaps I\'m just a bit mental, but it seems to me that there are some really good converters on this thread. You\'ve taken a molehill and with very little thought or effort changed it into a mountain. Nice one!

And I do agree it is nice to see the cast quality, but I figure if it arrives and it\'s that bad all you need to do is call \'em and get a new one sent. They\'ll do that no problem in my experience and probably throw in free stuff too. Hell, lie and tell them an order was messed up, they\'ll probably still send you stuff anyway without asking questions.

Remember: It\'s Bush\'s fault!
(Games Workshop and George W Bush.... My conspiracy is proven :D)

Ive got a bit of inside information, and think what you want, but GW is just pulling blisters that dont sell as well as others (GW even bought back the older product from retailers at the original cost). In my mind they are improving retailer/customer relations quite a bit, but there is still a ways to go.

why would anyone hope GW would go bust ?

Imo GW has done more over the last 30 years than anyone else to improve mini making, they are the ones who pushed the quaility of minis up, without GW where would we be ?

Also Without gamesday and the painting comps, would we have as many great painters as we have now ?

Yes GW has made mistakes, yes they get us angry at times, but they have also done a great deal of good things also.

I would hate to see any mini company go under, as I think competition is good for the hobby.

I\'ve thought long and hard about responding to this thread, because like a number of other people I\'m sick and tired of the \"Lynch-Mob\" mentality whenever GW does something someone dislikes.

If you look at the blister packs that are being removed off shelf they are all low turnaround on sales. If you were running a business, could you afford to have dead stock in a shop?

Take the Valten figure, issued to run in conjunction with the \"Storm of Chaos\" campaign.
Ok that was 2 years ago and you can only have 1 of him in any Empire army. So sales are going to drop and it\'s a logical step for any company to reduce \'dead\' sales space to allow greater capacity for newer stock.

It\'s the same for the rest of the items being removed, they are not being destroyed only taken out of a shop in order that the managers can meet their projected sales figures. So what\'s the big deal!

Much as I have criticised GW in the past and discussed their percieved failings with the managers (outside of the store for courtesy) I can thoroughly understand a commercially based business decision such as this.
Slagging off GW is all too easy as they are a big target, but despite their faults they have brought the Gaming/Hobby industry up to the level that we enjoy today.
So for those people who state that they want GW to fail, take a good look at the hobby and just think what the implications to the painting commission businesses would be.

Note to self - Next time I want to make my points stand out use the handy underline formatting tool. (Even if i did try and link to the \'I\'m sick and tired of the \"Lynch-Mob\" mentality\' thread. Now that\'s something I\'ll happily post an essay in!)

In a completely off topic leap, it is raining so hard back in my miserable hometown of Grimsby right now, and so freakishly windy, that I can barely hear the music I\'m playing due to it pounding on my parent\'s wobbling conservatory. I\'m kinda scared to tell you the truth.
