I love soups. They are pretty healthy too (as long as you don\'t overdo the salt!)

I like combining different ingredients and seeing what I come up with.
Here\'s the recipe I really like:
A pound or two of beef roast (chicken works great too). I like to cook it first, because I have a bad habit of tasting the soup before it\'s done, so I don\'t want to eat raw meat! I just cook it quickly in a pan with a little oil, pepper, and soy sauce and cover it so that the steam stays inside and keeps it moist, then I dice it up into large cubes.
Place the beef in a crock pot.
Add chopped potatoes, celery, carrots, mushrooms (I love canned mushrooms, so I use two of the small cans), half an onion (I don\'t like onions much, so only half for me) and two cans of beef broth.
Then I add
plenty of chopped garlic, black pepper, some salt, soy sauce, basil and parsley. Then I add some water to top off the pot.
Cook on high for 3 or 4 hours, or cook on low for maybe 6 hours. When the potatoes are done then you know the soup is ready.
Gosh, all this talk about soup makes me want it again. I\'ll have to make a big pot of it on Monday

Best thing is, you can make the whole pot of soup for about $10-$15, and that will last me a week
