Im not going to sit and argue about who deserves what more than who becuase everyone will have differing opinions on that.

There is no us and them for me.My view would be the same whoever is involved,or whatever aid organisation.
I did this for the tsunami and no other.Simple as that.

Did you know the Red Cross would be changing their direction when you agreed to let them have it ??

because I feel like someone i very highly respected isn\'t treating the members of this community fairly.

next time if you want to make sure you can dog ear money for specific disasters, it should have been with the organization that was first mentioned.

There is nothing we could/can do. the matter left our hands when that person refused to use the organization or they were going to leave the project.

many of you may think its bullocks. And I\'m not going to lie. Thats a slap in the face, which isn\'t exactly appreciated.

I have kept my mouth shut during all the ups and downs that Paint Aid when through. Now I have just a few words to say, so please bare with me.

A Big and Special “THANK YOU” to all who gave their time, talent, $$ and gray cells to get this project started and finished.
I’m sure Mike and Tracy have racked up tons of bonus Karma points, job well done guys.

Now it’s finished folks..time is short, life is fun, lets move on!!

The point I was making is that a lot of the people involved in the project will feel they havn\'t been treated fairly.

4. I know Tracy well enough that I do not believe that she is going to write off $3k+ as a chairitible contribution on her pesonal taxes this year. But truth be told, she and Mike have certainly donated enough time and effort to each take that deduction or more. And I think it was a very cheap shot to even bring it up.

5. If you think you can do better, step up to the plate and run the next one - from getting an army donated to distribution to recollection to sale. If you are not willing to do that, then shut the crap coming out of your mouth.

6. Congradulations to many of you are in order on a job well done. Special thanks from me to Greenstuff, TAB and Dragonsreach for seeing this to completion. Also special thanks to SuperVike and Tiddoco for helping me with my piece. I am sure that I have missed many acolades that should have been given, for that I am sorry.

I think the thought behind it was incredible and a big round of appluase to all those involved. The organizers, especially Mike, had the best intentions and did an AMAZING job.

No one is saying they didn\'t...

People DO have the right to be dissappointed however. I have still signed up for the next one regardless, because like any gift, it was the thought that matters...

I am also trying to do some stuff for the Hurricane effort... to say that those people don\'t need help because we are are the richest nation on earth I find OFFENSIVE! Since when does the needs of a group of people have ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING to do with their nationality?!

I knew this was going to ruffle some feathers, but I\'m glad whoever brought this point up did. Despite tempers flaring, I\'m sure, like myself, many people were just sitting back unhappily and keeping their mouths shut. But keeping things inside isn\'t good, and now that everyone has spoken up on the subject I think we can all go back to being friends.

No one was attacking you Mike, and I\'m sorry all of this has once again \'gotten\' to you, but I think it was perfectly rasonable for CMON members to voice their opinions. Suppose a person rushes into a burning building intent on saving someone trapped inside. The fire is too hot and the flames are too thick... so they are forced to give up and leave the building to save themselves. The crowd outside will still be proud of the would-be hero, but they DO HAVE the right to be dissapointed that the person inside still died. No one will throw stones at him, and NO ONE is throwing stones at you. I think this entire thing has exposed some very raw nerves...

I agree with most of what Airhead said, but the point that really made me think was the fact that a certain few held the whole thing up for months when most of the volunteers finished their peices quickly. It\'s a shame that the organizers are taking blame that should be directed elsewhere... like the Ebil person both Tab and Becca alluded to...

Here is how I see it. Any time you get involved in a project of this size there are potential problems. If things don\'t turn out just right, there are 2 things to be done. #1 is to bitch about it, and waste everyones time and energy, #2 is to work harder, so that next time it gets better, keep any critism constructive.

If you choose #1 I say get out of the way, keep it to yourself. I pick #2 and while I\'m not 100% happy with everything that went on in paint aid 1, I\'m not going to insult all those who gave a hell of a lot more effort than I did to make it happen the best it could. And I\'m going to step up and give my effort to help make the next one even better.

The bottom line, at the end of the day, through my hobby, which I enjoy, I helped make sure some person has something to eat when they might not have, or have a place to sleep, or maybe even save a life. Now I\'m not saying I value the lives of those in the US more than those affected by the tsunami, but I also don\'t value them any less.

My Final Thought On The Matter

I once again will state that I was proud to be a part of this no matter who recieves aid from what we have done. Certain people went above and beyond the call of duty, TAB, green-stuff and Dragonsreach to name three, but there are more.

To those who feel cheated or let down I say this, Say goodnight to your children, kiss your girlfriends or wives goodnight and then go for an untroubled sleep, when you get up in the morning and look out the window and you do not see bodies floating down the street and a city under water or a 100 foot wave hurtling towards you or 100\'s of people dying from starvation in the blistering heat, then you can feel sound in the fact that it did not happen in to you, the tsunami was bad and yes they still need help but there are others that need it as well and I am proud that what I and all the rest of us were a part of will go to help someone along the way. I can honestly say that I do not feel let down or cheated but there are 10,000\'s of people out there that have a right to.

I assume you are misquoting my post here. I suggest you go back an read it in the context that it was very, very obviously intended.... which is due to the location of the disaster and the undeniable wealth of country in which it occurred, logistically it will be far, far easier to deal with than a far larger and far more widespread disaster in a very much poorer part of the world.

The only thing that disturbs me is the American Red Cross switching horses in the middle of the stream.

No one did wrong from our end, in fact the folks that worked behind the scenes were downright amazing. I wish we were a bit speedier on things, but whats done is done.

The auction started a week ago last Friday or Saturday...The Hurricane wasn\'t the disaster it became until about a week ago today (Monday). So, how could the auction have read that before hand?

It was STILL the right choice to give the money to the American Red Cross, which is possibly one of the finest charitable organization around. I just feel a bit like the old \'bait and switch\' tactic was pulled on us.

Forum users have the right to be a bit ticked, or at the least, concerned, and I see no reason for anyone to NOT voice their opinion. We are all adults here, dissenting opinions are great for discussion.

It was a stellar effort, and one all involved should be proud of.

I have just now donated my commitment to the International Red Cross and purposefully did NOT tell them to use it where they see fit. I specifically requested they route it to the Niger food crisis. Not the original intent, but I know it will help some of those who may temporarily be off the world\'s radar. Thanks for the link, Tracy.

My conscience could not be clearer. Not every focused effort in our lives turns out as we wish. We are everyday people trying to leverage our hobby for the good of others. Our best efforts fell short in some regards, but ya know what ? We made a difference;we learned some project management lessons; we are willing to do more and.... I know some of you will laugh....but we still have each other. There are so many gone from this world and so many others who have lost those they have.

Enjoy the moment, pound down a few at the freak bar, then re-commit yourselves to all that you hold most dear. It\'s the way of all good things....

Now....as I said to Tracy...let\'s move on to that bitch Katrina.....
