Cats aren\'t universally popular

Just as an aside, did you know that in Australia, outside of the cities, cats are considered a serious pest and are shot on sight? And in many country towns, the whole township will get together to go on cat hunts (cat spotting).
This isn\'t cause we dont like cats.
Cats kill nearly every native animal in Australia with impunity and for fun as well as food (2nd only to humans).
Ever feel sorry for the little bird that your cat dragged home when you let him out at night? Imagine if that was a koala or a bilby.
In the UK there has been at least one high profile, wildlife celebrity (Chris Packham) who has got into aweful trouble, it might have even ruined his career, for suggesting that cats are a pest and huge threat to our native wildlife.
Personally I am not anti-cat, but there owners should be subjected to the same burden of responsibility as dog owners. ie:
1) It is not acceptable to just kick the b*stard out at night or let it run the streets.
2) You should have to clear up its excrement, especially when it is in
MY garden.
3) Thou shalt not hide behind the excuse *whiney voice* \"It\'s an independent creature, it has to roam, I can\'t control it\" If that\'s true..then it\'s presumably OK for my Bull Terrier to go walkies on its own????
As someone who has lovingly tended seed beds and painstakingly tried to encourage birds into my garden I would happily do an Ozzie Osborne and bite the bugger\'s heads off, but, as a dog owner I also realise that we have to stand together to a certain extent against the total \'antis\'. However, I have told my neighbours that if they let their cats shit in my garden, I will personally climb over their fence and return the favour

That\'s fair, is it not?
